Rockefeller....and more

Me, My Dad, and two brothers started the day at Rockefeller Refuge at LEGAL sunrise ("LEGAL" because so many people do not realize what this is apparently). In the first half hour we caught 18 crabs..being slightly selective in the process...we threw all the smalls and mediums back. After that half hour it stopped almost completely and after a slow hour or so we moved on. We tried fishing and crabbing the Mermentau with only two crabs to show for it. So we went down to cameron jetties and struck out again...way to muddy like I knew it would be because of the WIND. From there we decided to cross the Ferry and head towards Sabine Refuge and Big Lake..and all we found was tons of people. So we decided to try our luck at Calcasieu point landing for some fish and were barely successful. At that point we gave up on crabs and only wanted some type of fish to tug our lines  Well we caught a few trash fish and my brother landed a 15-20lb drum on the Pier and I caught a couple sand trout that all went back in the water and we called it a day. The best part came after that when we decided to go and get our favorite sandwhich....The Darrell's Special.:D:D:D All I can say is that about the time we were in Cameron we planned the rest of the day around getting a Darrell's Special. All in all slow fishing/crabbing day but really enjoyed spending time with my Dad and Brothers. Sorry this was a little long...
P.S. LAY DOWN WIND

I have never been to Darrel's, but if you are talking to someone about Lake Charles, Darrel's is always the first thing they bring up. Gonna have to give it a try soon.

It would be a very wise decision, Try the special or my personal fave The Surf and Turf!!

Thats kinda like Lafayette and Pete's. Everytime the ad pops up that big A burger I start cravin it. Gonna have to make a trip up there and try it out sometime. I started to shy away from darrels, now I get poboys from Dan's BBQ. They off the hook!
