I need to ship some redfish to a buddy in Illinois.

I would think vacuum sealed would be much easier and lighter. As for what to ship it in, I have no clue.

Gtown wally world has dry ice. Package it up in on of those styrofoam ice chest made for shipping and you should be set.

My wife gets her ice cream packaged in cardboard boxes packed with dry ice. Last September, I misplaced a case while unpacking it to put in the freezers. It sat in the storage unit for almost 2 full days and never melted. That stuff is amazing. WalMart does sell it in 10"x10"x2" thick blocks.

if you ship them on dry ice, freezing them in water before shipping is the way to go.
Vacum sealing is good but if the vac bag sits on the dry ice the fish will burn.

Or you could ship in a yeti. They are approved for dry ice.

That is the way to go! Ship crawfish and boudin to customers across the US and it is always frozen when it gets there, sometimes 3 days later. Just make sure you use tape on the styrofoam ice chest.
