Mardi Gras Madness Kayak Tournament
 
Here is the info for the Lafayette Kayak Fishing Club tournament scheduled for February 19.

This event follows the event rules stated below AND the club’s “General Tournament Rules” posted here. Be sure to review

Weigh-In: 2 – 3 p.m. @ 210 Israel LaFleur Park next to kayak launch. Google Map 2937 Kiwanis Dr, Lake Charles
Legal Launch - Fishing Time: 6:30 a.m.- 3 p.m.
Tackle: Artificial Baits Only.
Entry: $25 (+ $1.25 via Paypal)
Registration: Deadline is Fri Feb 18 at 11:59 p.m.
Pre-Tournament Meeting (optional): Q&A @ Thurs Feb 17 Club Meeting, Pack and Paddle, 6 pm or post ?'s on Tournament Forum on website.
Legal Stringer: SLAM (Series Points)- The angler with the heaviest combined SLAM weight wins. A bonus 2 pounds of weight is added to the overall weight to any contestant that weighs a 3-Fish SLAM.
Eligible fish: Speckled Trout, Redfish, Flounder. You may enter a 3-Fish SLAM or a 2-Fish SLAM. No more than 1 per species is allowed for either. Redfish may not exceed 27”. Trout- 12” minimum and Flounder- 10”.
2 SLAM Types:
1. 3-Fish SLAM= 1 Redfish + 1 Trout + 1 Flounder

2. 2-Fish SLAM= A duo combo of the 3 species

2 Examples of legal SLAM’s-

3# trout + 2# flounder + 4# redfish (+2lb bonus weight) = 11#

2# trout + 5lb redfish = 7#

Boundary: Lake Charles I-10 South to Cameron Jetties
Payouts: $15 goes to Tournament Pot (1st = 50% / 2nd = 30 / 3rd = 20%. ($10 goes to the Series Pot).

Food: $5 will get you a hot bowl of gumbo at weigh-in

Note to anyone fishing the East side of the lake from Fred's Lounge South: The Black Bayou River Bridge on LA 384 is out of service for ~6 months. Anyone wanting to fish this area is advised to take an alternate route.
