Dewy Will WMA, anyone ever duck hunt there?
 

Me and some buddies are planning a trip to dewy wills over the thanksgiving holidays, we are wanting to do some duck hunting, prefer some flooded timber hunting, was wondering if anyone has ever hunted there and if so have you done any good? also, how was the pressure from other hunters?

thanks guys, damn, figured that...we had planned on going to Arkansas for a guided flooded timber hunt but they are in a drought right now there and they are telling us if wont be any good till they get some more water up there. So now we are looking for somewhere to go on our own, any of ya'll got any ideas?

Most of the timber is still dry up there as well. Try Red River/Three Rivers they may have some water, but most everything that direction is dry. I was just north of Red River this weekend and everything is dry as a bone.

Forget about Arkansas green timber unless you have major bucks to drop.
The only places that consistently kill are private green tree impoundments and the going rate is $500-$750 per gun/morning. I would suggest Oklahoma, plenty of public green tree hunting, all mallards. Can't tell you the exact location but google can be your friend, S W Ok.

Dewey has a green tree area but like others said, it is a zoo.

Utah has great public duck hunting and the out ofstate licenses are cheap as hell...I know that it is a far drive but it is well worth it because nobody duck hunts up there...google" pelican lake" and" steinaker reservoir" ...those are 2 great places to hunt up there

dewey wills ain't bad.....catahoula is bad. do you have a boat? we hunt saline alot you just have to do some exploring. be sure you plan a scouting day in there. pm me if you have any other questions

Wax Lake prob best chances of good public hunting in LA. Camping out on that island is cool too. But u need a boat and it's a very tough hunt. Ain't a place for "rooks".

Fixed it fer ya! Lol! Grew up there so, I can say that!

Don't know much on the duck aspect because primarily hunted pheasant and quail up there but, I do know the the Corps of Engineers did a lot to lower water levels toward the end of summer to promote grass/algae growth in local resevoirs thus, promoting good habitat for water fowl.

Tensas allows public duck hunting..I'll be up there like the 12/13th of december deer huntin though..

I hunted/lived in OK last season we mainly hunted public land and we were generally very successful. We shot a good amount of mallards, pintail, teal, canadian and snow geese.

I don't believe you can duck hunt the same time they allow deer hunting. When the conditions are right it is the best anywhere.

You are correct. There certain days etc. that you can hunt, i have the pamhplet if interessted Chad.
