We caught over a hundred of these bad boys and drank way too much beer and whiskey. Water was rough so we couldnt go to far but the cove we stayed in was perfect fo perch jerkin and beer drinking. This was 3 weeks ago..

LPfishnTIM 05-10-2010 10:25 PM

which cove did you fish?

blackmamba 05-10-2010 10:25 PM

Thanks....the cleaning took over an hour but it wasnt to bad cuz the crawfish was boiling in the background.. Fresh A-2-Fay and bream.. you cant beat that

adamsfence 05-10-2010 10:27 PM

i was told the other day that you can soak them in vinegar for like 10 minutes then you can just spray the scales off with a water hose......don't know if it will work but im trying it next time

Not sure. It was a cove off of Lanan and the camp was on Jeff Davis road (off of hwy 1215)

All we do is scale with a homemade scaler and cut the head and stomach off and fry it..It takes about 1 min per fish. You waste some meat but not much. Ill try the vinegar too

Yessir..and with three or four grown men in a little boat you cant do much more than fish for bream.

I went this weekend and caught 105 on sunday. Sent them all home with my buddy to clean haha.

Scale em at the carwash. $2 in quarters & a pair of leather gloves, start at the tail & go up, flip repeat;) People that own the carwash aren't very happy though:redface:

Or if you have a pressure washer.

Done in no time.:work:

Also works well if you have a hose that has alot of pressure coming through it. I have one of those non adjustable small tips on a hose at my house and it removes the scales pretty quick.

i have a scaler that i bought at toledo tackle, it is orange with a handle, best one i have ever owned.

Man those crunchy little fins are awesome when you fry-em whole. Reminds me of being a kid.

Hackberry Hustler 05-11-2010 01:41 PM

Hadnt scaled dem bull bream in i cant tell you when. I dont keep em unless there big enough for the fillet knife. They make some really nice bite size fillets ,and if you good with the knife der isnt much meat left on dem itty bitty bones, you can dang near see through dem backbones when i get done. :grinpimp:
