I know an area that was over loaded with frogs a few years ago. It looked like a block party with all the little lights [eyes] looking back at us.

Caught the biggest frog I have ever seen there.....but turned it loose.

I know the upper part of the basin fairly well.

Too bad that date is the second weekend of Turkey season. Might have to do both???????

RaginCagin 02-10-2010 09:56 AM

I'm going to be there fo sho.

CatDaddy 02-10-2010 11:00 AM

Maybe down near the coast....ie. South of Morgan City.

I think they are talking about "in the Basin", this could be anywhere from just north of Morgan City all the way up to where the Atchafalaya river starts near Simmesport, LA.

Fool.....where will this "Froggin" being held?

southern151 02-10-2010 02:19 PM

Catdaddy, if it's the Pierre Part area, I know the area fairly well and I'd sure be interested in goin if I'm not stuck on a turnaround. I caught a lot of frogs over there last year after crawfishin was over!

Let's find out where it's at and maybe we could team up.

RaginCagin 02-10-2010 02:22 PM

A definite site has not been determined yet. Sounds like it will be somewhere between the Henderson to Ramma area but discussions are still in the works. This will be for fun. No money involved. Trophies, food, lodging, and door prizes are in the works. This will be a fun time and will be something different besides your ordinary fishing tournament. 5 biggest frogs win.

southern151 02-10-2010 02:25 PM

I've got a friend that has a camp over there as well. No fee lodging! Located on Belle River right at a launch.

Catdaddy, whatcha think?

When I lived in Lafayette......I fished and hunted most of that area.

I hope the water goes down some by then. It is back on the rise.....18 feet is flood stage. Anything above 12' and most of the land is flooded in the Henderson area. River is above 16 feet now and still rising some.

Elevation above NGVD 1929, feet Most recent instantaneous value:
http://nwis.waterdata.usgs.gov/la/nw...te_no=07381515

I tried to post "picture" of the chart but it said it was an invalid file. How do you post the chart?

I said the same thing. Most of the levees and banks are under water now and it will be worse by March 27. The frogging will prob. be tough but a good time will be had.

They are looking at getting 8 cabins at Cajun Palms resort. They are $109 per night and sleep 6 so if you guys are interested we could go in on one. I have fished Henderson alot just have not frogged there. I have heard plenty of them while fishing but you would need airboat to get to them.

The Cajun Palms cabins are VERY nice. It's a real nice place pretty much geared towards the "party crowd".

Bayouguy 02-10-2010 03:38 PM

I've got a great boat to get to where the frogs are. I'll even try out a new area! I don't care where on the spillway, it just sounds like FUN! I hope I can commit to this in the coming days!

I may just have to take a day off to go do this and tell them that I already had family plans prior to whatever I've got going!:*****:

I was talking to a buddy awhile ago and he said that a couple guys he's in a camp with in the basin are friends of yours. You know Chad Gaspard?

LMAO, only met him once. Good guy. I met him about 10 minutes after he got ejected out of his boat trying to get through a shortcut during deer season.
