What's y'all's thoughts

I'm posting this here so everyone can comment please keep it clean.
What are your thoughts on the NFL? I understand they have the right to protest given to us by the Constitution, but they are paid entertainers and get paid very well and very very few of them are actually doing anything about what they say is wrong. So what are they protesting because very few are doing anything?? Is it because they don't like Trump? Or because he said "what if"... I do not feel that a paid Entertainer should get involved in politics in any way. Whether it's Hollywood, NASCAR, football, baseball, hockey, Rodeo, or any other sport, do that on your own time and on your own money, not on one of the four major networks!!! Personally I will not watch the NFL and I will not support any of the NFL sponsors which kills me because I love Coors Light but I will never buy another case as long as they sponsor the NFL!! Again please keep your opinions clean and let's keep this in an open forum for discussion.

It wont be on my television again. I'll stick to college ball.

Let's hope they don't try that crap!!!

Reefman 09-25-2017 03:07 PM

These players are highly paid entertainers. I do not need their personal political viewpoints forced upon my viewing a football game. We have 24hr news media for that. The owners need to step up "if ya knell you don't play and I don't pay".
As it is, the NFL, over the past several years, is losing their fan base . This will really affect the number of viewers on game days. NFL ratings will fall along with TV revenues causing a re-thinking on player salaries. Maybe a more realistic salary base will come from it.
Still prefer to watch college and high school football.

lil bubba 09-25-2017 03:20 PM

I'm finished with anything nfl or saints . These guys don't have a clue what they protesting . They only protesting Pres. Trump . A lot of players who are good can get all the media time they want for a REAL protest without putting down the national Anthem. Bunch of cry babies that didn't get their way in the election . Enough people boycot nfl and local team and it will be over faster than it started .

Dogface 09-25-2017 03:45 PM

I won't watch any game or program that has anything to do with the NFL. Can't believe that the owners let these over paid athletes get away with disrespecting the country. 90% of them don't even know what they are protesting.

A truer statement has never been made

marshrunner757 09-25-2017 04:24 PM

Sadly, the steelers has been my team since I started watching. Now, they can kiss my azz and NFL will not be on my TV. I hope the whole organization implodes.

i'll never watch the nfl again after what these classless fools have done.

protest on your own time. the saints are supported by the Louisiana taxpayers. we are paying them to protest. what a bunch of arrogant people.

to hell with the nfl.

swampman46 09-25-2017 06:37 PM

Well the movement has begun. I'm also done with the NFL until I see owners growing a spine. THEY are the boss-NOT the players! Owners should put the message out, "This is my team, and these are my uniforms you wear! Any disrespect to either, then don't bother coming back!" These owners are so scared of losing these players, that they are letting them get away with all this. Oh...and make no mistake...the media is absolutely loving this!

I plan on watching the beginning of the Cowboys-Cardinals game tonight, only because of what I heard Jerry Jones announced a few days ago. "Anyone kneels during the National Anthem can get their a-s-s off my team." Or something to that effect.

Oh and to Sean Peyton with his Trump comment-don't talk too much fool-your head is already on the chopping block as coach. College ball is looking better and better.

bjhooper82 09-25-2017 06:41 PM

I'll never watch another NFL game either. I'm not going to repeat what others have already said but I feel the same. I've always liked college football better and love my LSU Tigers, but I can promise you if they start this crap too, I won't watch them anymore either.

worm 09-25-2017 06:48 PM

I'm done with the NFL hope they go bankrupt.

RayneCajun 09-25-2017 07:19 PM

10 - 15 years from now , the only thing Colin Kaepernick will be known for is killing the NFL! I quit watching the NFL about 15 years ago, sure as heck not starting now!!

swampman46 09-25-2017 07:28 PM

OK I've seen enough-and FU Jerry Jones-freakin liar! It's all up to people like us now!

T-TOP 09-25-2017 07:38 PM

Just like everyone else, will not have the NFL on my television.

There is a simple solution to all of this--stop paying the NFL to play the National Anthem!!

The US military PAYS professional sports leagues to play the anthem at the start of a game. Millions of dollars. Started around 2009.

Just go back to pre-2009. Simple.

sniper3726 09-25-2017 08:40 PM

I read the Jerry Jones never actually said that , apparently it was an untrue statement that went viral .
Both teams , coaches , and owners interlocked arms and knelt before the anthem played , I assume to show unity backing the players rights who choose to kneel . They all then stood arms interlocked as the anthem played .
I then turned it off . Disheartened as to the direction this country is headed . It is a much bigger problem than the NFL and there concern over possibly losing players and the almighty $

smooth move 09-25-2017 08:41 PM

this is a free country. people have died so that these guys have the right to do this. i also have the right to not support anything involved with it. i won't watch the NFL and i won't knowingly support any of it's advertisers. when the pocket book starts to get thin, the owners will do something about it.

Matt G 09-25-2017 09:45 PM

People today do not understand what freedom of speech actually means. Freedom of speech does not come with the freedom of consequence. I just wish these owners had the balls to impose said consequences.

This may piss several people off, but I blame all of this crap on the fans. They are the one who have placed these entertainers on a pedestal for so long that they actually believe everybody gives two $h!+s about their political views or what offends them.

tonyjohn 09-26-2017 04:05 AM

BINGO! This country put itself down this path when it started idolizing athletes.

If any of us tried this at our place of work, we would most likely be fired. But the thing is: the owners don't care, because as long as they are making money, this will go on.

4fish 09-26-2017 06:11 AM

No more NFL for me

swampman46 09-26-2017 07:26 AM

These players now have egos so big, that they see themselves high on a pedestal, and everyone else is far below. I remember a time when a player made a good play on the field, and walking back to the line. Today's players make a good play and immediately make an exhibition to draw attention to "themselves". Basically saying, "This was all me-look what I just did." When in actuality, yeah, you did your job. You did what you're paid to do. These players don't know the meaning of the words humble, thankful, appreciative, and most of all...grateful, for the opportunity.

tojoe 09-26-2017 07:36 AM

they are protesting Trump..... but this is also exactly why Trump won. People are tired of this!!

DeeCee 09-26-2017 08:01 AM

I'm done with the NFL

H2OFwlKlr 09-26-2017 01:07 PM

Ditto, agree with you all, won't even rant.

Broke it to my 13 yo son, no NFL in this home again!

NO Anheuser Busch, Ford, Under Armor, Pepsi, and never did McDonald's anyway.

Just because you make millions of $ does not make you smart!!!!!!!!

I feel the crunch won't be felt this year by owners because fans have already bought their season tickets, but if this keeps up I bet those season ticket holders would gladly prefer to spend a few grand on something else, I pray they do.

eman 09-26-2017 02:10 PM

The athletes just like the Hollywood crowd, just don't understand. They are all puppets paid well to entertain us. We really don't want to see or hear about your political views. Nor do we care. You are puppets paid to dance, ST FU ,get off your knees and dance.

mriguy 09-26-2017 03:07 PM

Don't like it but certainly respect their right to do it. Absolutely the wrong place for it.
I don't agree with the sentiment that they are over paid. Nobody, no matter the job is "over paid". Market dictates wages in a capitalist system. Can't have it both ways.

mriguy 09-26-2017 03:10 PM

No one is forced to watch the NFL, if ratings continue a downward trend, TV money goes down as will owner revenue and player salary.

NCAAFB>NFL

swampman46 09-26-2017 05:24 PM

These players believe they're untouchable. It's very obvious. Just after they loosened restrictions on end zone celebrations...look at the spectacle Odel Beckham made of himself on Sunday in the end zone. Many of these players(not all), feel untouchable and not accountable for what they do. This is all on the owners to stop it.

My post from my Facebook page:

My son in law (a Bossier kid, who I am extremely proud of), and father of my granddaughter, has 10 years with the 101st Airborne Air Assault Rakkasans (the most deployed Brigade in US Army history) - He has proudly served 4 govt paid vacations to Afghanistan and waiting on tickets for the 5th any day. Walk a mile in his boots through the blood of his brothers, and after you’ve served, if you still want to kneel during our countries National Anthem, go ahead, you’ve earned that right. But until then, I take it personally as blatant disrespect for him and his Brothers, and the entire NFL can kiss my Merica loving Patriotic Arse!!!!!

What's y'all's thoughts

Can someone help me understand Whats the difference btw the player not standing or kneeling......... AND

the people at home watching the game..who sitting on their sofa or people sitting down at the bar...........

what makes the players wrong and the person sitting at their house, bar, right?

Who get a pass and who doesnt.

If you stand up at your house for the national anthem and hold your hand on your heart every monday and sunday sometimes thursdays games. Please say i. That way we know you are not being disrespectful to the flag?

If you dont stand up then what are you saying about yourself......

Are you boycotting your friends that sitting down during the anthem at you house.

Ill wait. This should be good

Hard to imagine you don't know, but I'll give it a try.

1-I'm not a multi-milionaire who thinks he's beyond reproach
2-I'm not wearing a team uniform(representing an owner's team)
3-I'm not displaying my beliefs at an inappropriate time for the world to see
4-I'm not a poor roll model for kids that look up to me, to behave the same
5-I'm not doing this on company time
6-Unlike many of these players, I actually KNOW why I would be taking a knee

See any differences?

You never answered the main question about YOU. Do you stand up or dont stand up
Do you get a pass and friends get a pass or they get the same treatment like the players

Just asking
1 so you consider you self lower then them

2 are your not representing your family last name.
3 so your beliefs at home infront of family kids are dont matter ?
4 is it ok to sit at home drink a beer while watching a game
5 personal time very important?
6. Yes you may actually know why.....but we are still trying to figure out why

Will i get equal treatment if we commit the same crime?

Totally different scenario from watching at home or being in the stadium. If I would be watching it live in the stadium there's no chance in hell that I would be doing anything other than standing up with my hand over my heart in respect for the men and woman who fought/fight and died for my freedom. I'm all for peoples rights to protest even if our beliefs aren't the same on the subject being protested but these guys can protest on their own damn time without throwing the country and our armed forces and our flag a big F U!

First off, what you thought you heard about Jerry Jones was inaccurate. He was never quoted as saying if any of his team members kneel he'll kick them off the team. But that's the internet for you. I have some advice for you. Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see.

Secondly, Jerry Jones and the Cowboys kneeled in protest as a show of unity BEFORE the flag was brought onto the field, and once that happened they ALL stood for the playing of our national anthem.

So my question is, as far as Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys are concerned in this subject matter, what are you so mad about?

Matt G 09-27-2017 02:20 PM

So would alphaman's argument be considered a straw man or an ad hominen fallacy? He's definitely misrepresenting the argument to make it easier for him to discredit (straw man), but he is also attacking the other side's character instead of the content of their argument (ad hominen)..... Guess we can call it a compound fallacious argument. Either way, it's a ridiculous comparison and doesn't even warrant a response. Nice try though.
