Top end speed out of tiller steer "fishing/hunting"rigs

Was wondering what kind of speeds people are getting out of there fishing/hunting rigs unloaded tiller steer and what props/boats/motors everyone is running

Mine Tohatsu 50hp four stroke 16p painted stainless on 1648v weldbilt best I have got on lake is 45mph

funkyflemmons 05-02-2016 08:58 AM

45 is pretty fast on the water, especially with tiller steer, my buddies rig we fish tournaments out of only does 40

MattMigues 05-02-2016 09:39 AM

I have 15/56 custom "V" with 50hp Yammy 13p turning 5600 37mph.

BassYakR 05-02-2016 09:44 AM

marshrunner757 05-02-2016 02:05 PM

14/48 with a ported 40 will do 70+. That's how these guys claim they have fast motors lol.

What kind of prop you running

MathGeek 05-03-2016 08:35 AM

Mine hardly makes 20 mph any more with my weight gain and the children much bigger than they were, and I need both the 10 HP and the 20 HP motors running wide open to get there.

It'll do 70 mph easy on the trailer, though.

you can fill all the voids in the block with epoxy and stroke the crank. I hear that makes the tohatsu come alive

Man, I pushed my old marshrunner 52 and that was a little iffy lol. Always worried about hitting something floating just under the surface with that thin fiberglass hull at 50+. Pushing an aluminum hull now and feel safer lol.

I need to find me someone to make a Tohatsu motor go fast

splac 05-04-2016 09:40 AM

I have a 1648 Alweld with a Tohatsu 40hp 4 stroke with the Yamaha 16 pitch Black Stainless Steel Prop loaded (3) three batteries, trolling motor, ice chest fishing gear and (2) two big men 250lb running 39mph at best. Looking to get a new hull this year undecided on witch hull as of now. Impressed with the new motor and they have made some really good changes to the motor. Water pump is awesome compared the older Tohatsu motors and sips gas.
:work:

:work:

39 loaded isnt bad at all!

splac 05-04-2016 10:10 AM

Not at all very impressed I was running 40mph on the same hull with a Tohatsu Mega with a lot of work done on the motor. Hole shot isn't as good I put a power tech 13.5 pitch on it but was hitting rev limiter at 35 mph. With the 13.5 it would jump on top in 2 boat lengths. I think the 15 pitch Yamaha stainless steel black would be better on hole shot but I have the 16 and will stick with it until I get the new hull.

4strokepower 05-04-2016 02:55 PM

I can tell that the new 50hp four stroke is stronger faster and smoother than the tldi

4strokepower 05-04-2016 02:56 PM

I have run both
