I have one on my "dumb" TV. What are you looking to do?

Just trying to figure out what we actor it does. And pros and cons and such Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
If you only have Wi-Fi access (also needs to be strong signal) near the TV you plan on using, I would say its good, you do have to clear some "cache" occasionally, look up Fire Stick Maintenance on YouTube for the how to.
But if you have LAN that you can access for that TV I highly recommend the Roku 3, double the price but its great. I have both because of the Wi-Fi only in a room. I don't feel like running Cat-5. |
i have the fire box and I love it. my wifi is kinda crappy but I dont have much buffering at all. you can use your netflix on it or amazon prime has lots of free videos. i ditched cable for this

Can you still watch regular tv through it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Well your digital channels will still play through your antenna on a different source

I just use a cheap set of rabbit ears and get abc, nbc, cbs, fox, and a bunch of lpb channels |
I would recommend roku 3 also. fire stick is not as fast

HD antenna, Roku 3 with Hulu and Sling TV is my new set up. Don't miss cable at all. Saving $75.00/month.
|
best 25 dollars i ever spent. got mine installed with Kodi.
|
Cancelled my $250 cable with Cox a few weeks ago. HD antenna, Amazon Fire Stick, and Netflix. Pay $63/month for LUS Fiber and $11/month for Netflix.
|
I'm about to pull the plug as well on direct tv.

Sling TV has ESPN and espn2. And you can add the SEC network for an extra monthly fee. |

You can watch everything live on ESPN app now. I'm watching Syracuse vs Duke right now just through the free app on my firestick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You have to log in with a subscriber account. Once you cancel you cable or dish tv, you won't be able to watch ESPN or ESPN2 on the ESPN app. Except for ESPN3 which is free to everyone. But after I cancelled my cable tv with COX, the login worked for 2-3 months then it stopped. |
Amazon Fire TV Stick
Correct. After I canceled my ATT uverse I could no longer watch the watch ESPN app. I got the sports package with Sl ing for an extra $5.00/month($25.00/month total) and it catches ESPN, 2, news, and U and some other soccer channels. With college baseball season coming up I wanted ESPNU.
If you use Roku 2 or 3 as your interface you can download the Foxnews app and I'm sure you can watch full episodes of most of the shows Ada soon as they are finished airing live. You can't watch live but it's hard for me to watch live tv anyway.. I watch PBS news and PBSnewshour is available sand night. I used to DVR that show but now it's all "on demand" along with every other show that plays on PBS i.e. (Cooking shows and This old House) all for free! Personally, I'll never go back to cable because I have more good shows available to me now just through Roku and all of the apps. Also, Hulu and Netflux are month to month so you can go back and forth if you choose rather this paying for both year round. My uverse high speed internet, which I have 0 complaints about, is $68/month, sling and Hulu is another $36/month and those are also month to month. It won't be long before the cable providers will start offering a la carte service to stay relevant. It won't be long before |
Stupid autocorrect on this iPhone...
|
im down to fire stick or ruko
which one?. I'm leaning towards amazon. you only pay the 1 time prime fee for the year right? unlimited movies am I correct? |

Ott box mxq is better than firestick. Amazon prime don't let you watch all movie. Most new ones have to rent. Get kodi on on firestick or mxq free movies. check out you tube for more info on kodi |
Load Kodi on PC
100M internet connection and watch all for free, drop cable completely
|
I'm not sure about the fire stick, but the Roku 2 & 3 have a remote and that's nice. I have to use my phone or tablet for the Google Chrome.
|
Picked up a roku 3 this weekend. What's should do next. I noticed 1 thing it will take some time getting use to it!!

If I have a device like a PS3 or Blue Ray player with Hulu/Netflix/Amazon already on it... is there any advantage to purchasing a Roku or Amazon Fire Stick?
I think I can get by without the Sling TV app by using my mom and dad's cable login for ESPN. |

They are all basically the same thing. A means to get to each App. Just that some are faster and slower than others. |

My internet speed is pretty slow at the house with DSL but Netflix seems to run fine on this device. I'm not sure my internet would be able to handle a faster device. The only thing I think I am missing is the WatchESPN app... I guess I probably need a Firestick or Roku for that one? |
I ended up getting the Amazon Fire box W/prime
So far I like it!! I use Prime/Sling/Hulu/ and Pluto (its free) |
I have two Roku's and an Amazon Firestick. The Roku 3 is much faster when navigating the menu. No difference between them once you are watching something though.

been using firestick for about one year. Just ordered firetv box, supposed to be faster with ethernet connection. Have kodi installed and i watch all my favorite shows that comes on during the week either sat or sunday. Nice when u dont have to waste time with commercials. Get it all done in 2-3 hours.
