big lake trip in the morning

Any one been on the lake today. how muddy is it. headed out in the morning. any help appreciated thanks

Gerald 05-27-2009 07:33 PM

Last week the water in the north end only had about 3-4" visibility but it should be getting better by now. Winds were 15 mph that day.

I think I will go in the morning also.

Castaway 05-27-2009 07:39 PM

Adams,
Was out there this morning. Stay on the north end. Water was good. Fish were spread out but they were there jumping on shrimp.

RAKEDLAKE 05-27-2009 08:54 PM

was on the lake this morning. i wish we wouldn't have left the north. we only caught 3 fish before we went to the south but they were very good fish 3,4 and 5 lbs. it was just a slow bite. the water doesn't look bad most spots we stopped. it isn't that pretty green you want to see but it's not bad. w. cove has a bunch of birds but the fish that are under then are very small. i am talking small acquiriam small. i think stay north is a good thing, you will see a large number of boats, so prepare to be socialable.

adamsfence 05-28-2009 06:26 PM

well we fished there. I hope everybody did better than i did. we only ended up with about 4 keepers. 2 of them was between 3 to 4 pounds. no limits but 4 more than i normally catch i'll figure this out eventually

I had some friends of mine went today with a guide and they didnt do to good either, At 1.00 they had 9 trout and 7 reds and then caught 29 trout in one spot. Said the water was muddy down south and it was windy as heck:eek:

adamsfence 05-28-2009 06:51 PM

it was very muddy south. we rode to the jetties water was clear there also a few spots in west cove had clear water. Passed by the wiers you couldn't have put another boat in there turners was pretty full too. figured if i am going to learn this i should go ahead and find my own spots and not try to fight them crowds

My bad...forgot about Texaco cut!!

Castaway 05-29-2009 10:57 AM

The only cut south of Texaco that I can think of is the washout..lol

killa k 05-29-2009 11:54 AM

I went Wednesday, same deal...Turners was packed but the water was good and caught a few trout LOTS of fingermullet on the reefs around the island. Ran down to the washout before the wind picked up. Picked up one red and worked some birds(more birds than fish!) 4 groups of 20-40 birds each 7 boats, and only saw 4 trout caught all small. Wind really started blowing, so I decided to call it a day.
