vbay

hey guys if vbay starting to clear up but im getting reports that the wind will be picking up today to Friday and im hoping it will not churn up the water making it become muddy again. do yall think that is possible or if the wind is coming from northeast as they are forecasting it sudnt be making it that dirty???? is the specks still slow biting If any of yall salty Cajuns been out there this week yet.

With wind like this the water shouldn't get too churned up and muddy. You will see the northern end of the bay be clearer than the southern end due to the north wind.

the trout have been biting in the pass but it has been small ones mixed in with keepers. I am headed out Friday and possibly Saturday too.

fishingonewild 10-22-2014 04:01 PM

hmm seem like the specks are staying around the pass lately huh. guess weeks bay and cover aren't good enough for the specks to move in already. looks like it would turn on if there was some stronger cold fronts to get them all the way in. so in the pass wud be t butte or diamond reef???

fishingonewild 10-22-2014 04:02 PM

We've been finding them at Pavy and Caldwell more the T Butte and Diamond. I only tried the cove and weeks once, but they weren't there that day. Can't say whether they've made it in yet, since I usually put in at Intercoastal.

Hey buddy.. Might be heading out there Friday. You still got the same # as back in the day?

cajun bill 10-22-2014 08:09 PM

VB today 10/22

Was out there today, started at the Cove, water not bad, but NADA, then went to WB and caught 2 nice specks and one undersized red. Then back to Cove and caught 3 nice specks, but didn't notice anyone knocking them dead, but were kinda like us, picking away at a fish once in awhile. Then back to WB cause the tide was moving, but NADA, then back to the Cove where we caught a "doormat" on the first cast, then two more nice specks. All in all, a nice day with great weather and home by 1 p.m.

fishingonewild 10-23-2014 08:48 AM

hey chip yea I still got the same # it never seem to wear out lol! give me a holla on how u do out there Friday I am pretty much going on Saturday.

fishingonewild 10-23-2014 08:51 AM

Cajun bill good report u got there, yea seem like they still got a lock on their mouth or there isn't many moving around. its like hit and miss. at least yall got to bring home something than nothing at all....

MarshRat89 10-23-2014 09:06 AM

Had a ENE wind all day yesterday. Today is a steadyNE wind. Cove and weeks bay should be beautiful through Sunday. Mouth of the Avery should be producing also for you guys coming out of the new dock in Delcambre. No reason why reefs on the outside shouldn't be good either. I can see even the Mouth of Boston and Chene turning on this weekend with that NW wind. Y'all have at em. I'm fishing Big Lake today then back to the deer stand.

2 years ago I caught a 12 lb blue cat in the cove bouncing a pink curltail on the bottom. Crazy...

good report there mattmigues and like u said a hour before dark u did little better is prolly cux the tide was starting to fall.... I think most of the week the tide falls short in the am but at night it fall late. so it depend which area cux not everywhere in vbay is falling at the same time..... but at least u did good...

have fun at big lake marshrat cux I know they are fired up over there catching anything... and good luck hunting... hope ur right abt the forecast on the wind in the bay and I sure hope the water clears up more and more cux that cud help a lot to get on some fish....

MattMigues 10-23-2014 12:12 PM

Exactly the tides have been a little off. Weather should get more into a steady pattern and fish oughta be really easy to catch within next couple weeks

Nice haul, Biggun. You fishing around the cove, weeks, and the reef, or were you over toward the west side? I'm assuming the east, since we've only been finding em on the west outside of the pass and not inside.

good question there legallimits but Im thinking he did catch them inside the bay since we all been saying there wasn't much action going on inside the bay and that everyone been catching outside the pass but lets see what biggun gonna say after reading our comments. im hoping its in the bay.

Yeh, I'm assuming its in the bay. I'm just wondering about the intercoastal city side versus the cypremort side. We haven't been finding anything near intercoastal or the west side of the bay until you get out of the pass. But I've been hearing more and more about people catching em over by cypremort in the usual spot (cove, hammock, weeks bay, dry reef, etc.). Looking for a little confirmation on that one. With the good weather this coming weekend, I'm sure you won't even need a boat. You could just jump from one person's boat to the next over in the cove.

lol I agree with ya big time abt the jumping from one person boat to another cux im pretty sure its gonna be packed with boats all over, just hoping we get on some and just catch us some and be on our way before it get crazy. i hope we all do good out there is all that matters. and yes it sure will be nice weather all weekend for sure.

Okay, that explains it. I'm guessing I would look like s**t in a bikini and I ain't got no boobs. Not sure how I smell, but my wife hasn't complained lately.

Would love to take you up on your offer to fish with you, but I'm headed to North La. tomorrow to see if I can shoot some Bambi's.

Yup!!! when it get real quiet that means the fish are hitting...

fishingonewild 10-23-2014 09:49 PM

marshrat u made a good point there abt most people catching won't be posting it on here but it can be easy as this as pm one another if they don't want everyone else to know abt it. I'm not too selfish cuz there is million of fish in the sea and i understand no one wants thousands of boats all cramped up around them if they are saying fish is on.... but pm is very simple to do to share with ur fellow fisherman is all... and again i will say this good luck to those who are heading out tmw to fish and enjoy their day out on the water. but again all i like to know if the water is clear, if the fish are doing good and if y'all want to tell me something just pm me and ill be able to go saturday to try out some spots to catch some fish to bring home to feed my family and friends.

Call it a conspiracy theory, but I think the mods screen all our PM's. Paul Myers gives away all our good spots. Hell why you think W started the site in the first place?

They may be, but not too many people are sharing their honey holes, nor should they, even if it is by PM. But letting people know that dry reef or the cove are producing is just being courteous to fellow fishermen. There's plenty of fish at the community holes for everybody.

Good luck this weekend, folks. And remember to keep at least a two cast distance from the next boat.

I think I was courteous in my first response. I offered additional spots other than just the cove and weeks bay that should be producing. Conditions change from day to day. You won't catch me catch me posting any reports I hear though. I have a network
Of people that I keep in touch with. If you start posting every report you hear those people will eventually stop giving you info.

Agreed. I don't post reports that people share with me. And I thought your report was informative. The issue is that 1250 people have viewed this post to get a little info, and there's two to three people who actually posted it. Then half the people who post will say they caught fish where they didn't. I've pretty much stopped listening to the reports. But I try to tell people the truth about where I'm finding em. If anybody wants more specific info, send me a PM.

cnjcaldwell 10-24-2014 12:31 PM

I went out yesterday morning and didn't do so good. A few here and there. Caught a lot but all ran about an inch short.. I was fishing the points around the trash pile. I prefer to tightline with a double rig and shrimp. Always fished big lake the past 15 years now trying to learn the bay since its closer to home. Had quite a few boats out for a weekday but didn't see anyone catching anything and they would come and go. Water clarity was decent. Bite was good as long as the tide was falling. When it stopped so did the fish.

cnjcaldwell 10-24-2014 12:33 PM

And in case your curious about topwater I tried that also. Tried numerous baits and colors. Caught one flounder and didn't really get any other bites. Flounder was on a purple and green cocahoe

fishingonewild 10-24-2014 12:33 PM

legallimits and marshrat yall both made very good points there and I respect that big time too.. and marshrat u saying u have a network of people that u keep in touch with which is a good thing and I wish I had that kind of network but I don't so which is why I am on here to be able to learn better and know more of how to do and what to do for my self and help others too.. but all good.... so im looking forward to be out there in vbay tmw. who knows I mite see some of yall out there...

Myself I'm 33 and have been die hard as long as i can remember, as I matured the older veteran fisherman kinda took me under there wing and taught me a lot, i have a tight network some of them are here but like you say to much info can hurt you and never ever post another guys report!
