Wooden boat festival, no haynies??

Went to the wooden boat festival in madisonville today and did not see a haynie anywhere. They are missing a great opportunity to advertise the brand.

Seems like most are off the bandwagon since Chris raised guide prices and now makes people go through Scott and not directly through him anymore. Price went up, guide support went way down.

speck-addict 10-12-2014 08:55 PM

its funny how you mention lack of haynies, the other day i saw a boat in BL that i had never seen, nor had i heard of, but it was a bad to the bone design, so i checked them out online and from what it looks like it looks like a pretty cool boat, its called a Simmons Custom Boat or SCB.... do y'all have any thoughts of it or have ever heard of it? looks like a great rig for shallow water and bay fishing...

They are sweet looking boats. Fast boats. Out of Texas. Never been in one though.

You signed on in 2013....so you missed a capt from Texas who had an SCB. He and "W" struck up a colorful friendship...heck I think they still keep in touch! :D

I think W even traveled to Texas to meet him for dinner..... But either someone didn't show or the other got lost....I don't quite remember.

Not enough profit in the resale.

Yep. It was always all about the money. They are nice boats. I had one but they are now more expensive than several mid range brands. I can't see paying 60k for one.

Reynolds4 10-13-2014 07:39 PM

60k won't even get you started on a SCB. They are very sweet boats. I would love to have a Recon model.

Elbert Chamblee 10-13-2014 07:46 PM

wooden boat festival, no haynies

2014 SCB w/300 merc for $76,500 used on another site from Needville, Tx. should run in the hi 90s--get in-- sit down and hang on--

It's on my list of boats to own, and I have a very short list

PaulMyers 10-13-2014 08:51 PM

There is at least 1 SCB here in Lake Charles.

AubreyLaHaye458 10-13-2014 09:07 PM

There was one at the SC tourney. And I've seen another one on the water. Wanted to "race" me. Lmao

yeah, the one i saw i was doing 45/47 MPH and i saw his rooster tail coming from behind me in the ship channel and in seconds he was passing me... i just looked dumb founded lol i wanna know who it is. They are by far one of the nicest boats I've seen on line. i agree with Goooh i don't want to own many boats but that one is on my list

AubreyLaHaye458 10-13-2014 09:18 PM

I know I follow their page on Instagram. I often have to wipe the drool off my phone screen when some of their boats show up there.

No the are not . Up until end of 2010 they were balsa core and glass . 2011 and up all composite and glass .

"W" 10-14-2014 06:05 PM

Only down fall on a SCB is

Don't not handle chop good

And sink on power pole

Other than that will run faster than 95% of fishing boats

I'll have the 24ft Haynie "wood boat" ordered in a few weeks !!

PUREBAY2200 10-14-2014 09:37 PM

I remember you saying that a 24 was impractical... Even for a guide.

Sure

What ever u say !!!

Hell I might get the 25ft

PUREBAY2200 10-14-2014 09:50 PM

I'm just referencing a statement you made that a 24 ft boat was overkill for big lake and brag people who know what they are doing can fish 4 people from a 21-22 ft boat.

But I guess that has changed.

Make sure they use Yella-wood on that new haynie

You don't even know what a chop is, neither does most people on here.

SCB rides totally different, it gets on top of the chop and just glides it out. Don't need no wave eater plates either. Pitch down purr on that chop.

Chop is easily defined as anything with a wave height >3' with a frequency >2 seconds

SGib 10-15-2014 06:18 AM

My kidneys like my slow ole 24ft mako a whole lot more than Bearwash SCB. W you need to back out on that deal and sale the Z to Bearwash!
