Where they at?

Sitting in Holly Beach marsh. No birds.

Ed32 09-20-2014 07:56 AM

Not many south of welsh. Of course poor shooting is to blame for us not having more birds

basinhunterfisher 09-20-2014 10:29 AM

Not in the basin
No birds here
Heard maybe 10 shots all morning

AubreyLaHaye458 09-20-2014 10:39 AM

East from where? We are not far from lake Charles and we haven't missed a limit yet. We are only hunting 1 blind and we are just short of 300teal so far. Hunting 5-8ppl per day.

Where do y'all hunt? I have not heard of anyone killing teals limits from Johnson Bayou to Holly Beach to Welsh to Thornwell.

Smack dab in the middle of Roanoke/welsh/pine island. NW of hwy 395

You did better than a good bit of ppl round those parts. Band makes up for a lot!

Bdub 09-20-2014 05:01 PM

Had 2 buzz me outta nowhere this morning about 5 ft from the blind, then had another group cruise past just outta shooting range couldnt get them in...and one more group that made a fool of me bc I shoulda knocked more than one down...We dont have annnny teal in our marsh in GC...south side of 82...Thank god for early bow season...I'll be in the tree instead of the marsh tomorrow

Sure am! U obviously don't realize ppl kill ducks out of island blinds all the time. Must not be that hard if I can do it out of an "island blind" huh

Do what u do. We cut some levees on the farm, not the ones that the blinds are on. But the ones a few fields south and north just to be able to see further and help out with the ducks getting high and sliding off. We think it helps. But what do we know we hunt out of island blinds and only kill 1100 birds a yr not including teal as a farm total. Just in a good area. Who knows, not me

Sorry I didn't put the ;) icon in my original post.

That was pure sarcasm for the "real" haters that posted in your original thread, B.

I had to post that because as I read your original thread I realized how many "hunters" have blinders on, and think non traditional methods don't or won't work, and voice their opinion like they think it matters.

I hunt a pit blind on a bare levee every year, with burlap for cover and kill ducks and specs every year!

Not a "hater", glad you both are killing birds, not many people are, it's all about location.

You couldn't be more right about location. We aren't killing em in our rice fields. Slaughtering em in the moist soil wild millet/smartweed fields. Today was the hardest day. First day we missed our limits. Honestly though we should've had em. A few missed opportunities made for hard hunting. Ended up with 34 instead of 42

Hell of a hunt, y'all definitely got the birds.

Hopefully, when that front pushes through Tuesday it will bring more birds, and the rest of us can get some. :D

It's night and day Renee. In our rest pond they like it so much they don't swing or make passes they go straight in. 1" of water. Stand up feeding

"Go ahead, share your opinion! I won't cry"

AubreyLaHaye458 09-21-2014 11:13 AM

Where we're killing them is in the crawfish lake. Every kind of grass in there. Alligator weed, roseauxs, lillys, it's a mess. But they're diving in the holes in it.

We ended up with 29 this morning by 7 hunters. 3 guys had to leave at 7:30 for mass and they left with their limit. Missed opportunities and poor shooting hurt us but I'll still take it.

Dad's been working around that area and he said the same thing. He texts me every morning about how they're shooting so much.

The shots have been non stop in pine island. Every morning it's like war has started about a mile south of me on hwy 99. 6 has been my best so far this season with 2 shooters. Tomorrow looks promising.
