Anybody use them?
If so how do you like it? |
I use them so far so good the only downfall is the pad went out already after 2 weeks which is like an ipad in the house other than that its good. we just use our phones now to arm and disarm

Vivint security
Had a big deal on the news a while back on them. BBB was doing an investigation on them. Something like over 3,000 complaints. Might wanna look at the BBB site first.

I have them for over a year... Never had any problems and very quick response when I have accidentally set off the alarm. They don't call you on the phone, they check on you through the alarm system. You talk with them over a speaker in the main control pad.
I would recommend them. Even have outdoor surveillance cameras through them that I can monitor from my cell phone. I watched a crew of workers put in my swimming pool a year ago over my cell phone while I was out of town working. |
I use them also and no complaints. The customer service is very friendly and the equipment is made by big name companies. Most complaints that I read about them is people that did not know about the contract when they signed.
|
I've had them for a couple of months now. I like it so far. No problems. BBB site had lots of issues but none for me yet. I like having the camera on and can check from my phone or iPad. I'd try to negotiate a shorter contract term than the 60 mos they try to punch. Ask for 36.
|
Yea. The sales guy didn't say a thing about the contract but I did my homework on that. It's got to be a good deal for me to sign a 5 year contract.
|
When I signed with them it was a 12 month contract.
|
Had them for a long time now and no complaints
|
If you don't mind me asking... How much do you pay a month? I have ADT and currently looking to switch.
|
Check into EPS in Lafayette, great product and service

Most of the local monitoring services have the same equipment that vivint has now without all the horror stories. One of their salesmen knocked on my door one day and had no brochures or information except the card that he used to discuss it with people. He also had no card or anyway for me to contact them for information. I told him that I would research it and to come back another day. He never came.

I call the cops on those guys. |
NO WAY and I going to buy a security system from some guy who knocks on my door trying to sell it. I tell my wife to call the police when they show up at the house.

Couldn't you just close the door? ;) |
In today's world I'm always suspicious of other peoples intentions. In the city where I live door to door solicitors are required to get a permit and let the local law enforcement know what neighborhoods they are working in. If the person is legit they tell me if not they pick them up.

Ok. That makes more sense. |
Magazines and steaks are one thing, I tell them I'm not interested. Someone asking. If you have security and who it's with is something totally different - then asking to come in and check your security system out so they can "offer" something comparable - is a huge red flag no matter what kinda pamphlet he has.

acadiana security in Broussard is we have and I like it.
|
One of those vivint kids opened my door w/o knocking last summer and found himself staring at the business end of a 357. don't know if he pissed his pants are not but after i got through with him we haven't seen any of them since.
|
Vivint has a F rating with the BBB (3210 filed complaints) and countless lawsuits against them.
The companies based out of Utah, Mormon owned which explains the door knockers. We sell the same cool new products but a lot of that stuff is costly. Unsuspecting buyers are sold when they hear the low start up price but miss the monthly rate. That rate is $30-50 dollars a month higher than us or others like us and with a contract of 60 months. You can see that in the long run it's not free or cheap, it's financed and at a rate that's higher than a payday loan. |
they were on the news recently with a warning not to use them. saying it was basically a scam i believe
|
We have repeatedly "escorted" these orange shirt clowns out the city limits, last time they had extra piece of paper with a court date for operating in our city limits without a permit! Our town doesn't take too kindly to overly aggressive/pushy sales people knocking on doors at all hours of the day. You can tell when them and the magazine salesman hit the town, 911 lights up like a Christmas tree. We round em' up and ask why they are knocking on doors after hours. Most are college age kids trying to make a buck. Some are not and have active warrants or criminal histories from other states.
I have nothing against their business, just their sales tactics which make people nervous by coming after hours and knocking on doors. I actually went to my sister-n-law's house and went off on one of them since he didn't understand what "NO" was. |
I have had them for over a year with video monitoring and A/C control. No complaint at all.
|
I have the same with eps. Cheaper than vivint and local.

55 a month/ 3yr. That is with no phone line needed so that makes a little difference. In Houston that is fairly par for the course if you want all the bells and whistles. |
Vivant customer service s****,do not recomend to anyone,,,,
|
I pay $50 a month and negotiated a 12 month contract.
They wanted a 60, then a 36 but I told them I would agree to a 12 month and they agreed. I've only needed their customer service once and it was exceptional. I would recommend Vivint to anyone. |
Thanks, That's about what I expected. There ability to negotiate is based on what the install. The Equipment cost is being financed so the more bells and whistles effects the terms. All security providers have the ability not have to use phone lines. Internet and Cellular is the most common. Vivants favorite scare tactic is to unplug a phone line to show the customer that the system doesn't transmit. they explain how they use internet communication but fail to explain that most internet connection or VIA phone and fiber which have the same issues as phone lines.
We built a wireless mesh network a few years ago that allows us to phone/fiber free wireless in most of SWLA. $30 per month and requires a add on tranmitter |
