all star rod 11-18-2009 01:39 PM

Well it is amazing how well the ducks work/decoy when a tractor is not 15 yards from your blind. Hunted 3 this morning and got 18 teal. Majority were green wings.

huntin fool 11-18-2009 05:11 PM

I think this weekend wil be better.

Nasty weather coming! :)

all star rod 11-18-2009 05:35 PM

Fool I hope you are right. With the bad weather we need the temp to drop. Hopefully, this will occur during the morning or day. Great for rice field hunting.

longsidelandry 11-18-2009 08:47 PM

I needa find a place to go Sunday morning so I can shoot me some canards!!!

huntin fool 11-18-2009 08:50 PM

Ray 11-18-2009 09:12 PM

I saw 1000's of teal today in Creole and Little Chenier. Not many big ducks.
I also seen that the Pouldoo started flying down too.

Third Year of Duck hunting not starting that great

Well this is the first year I have hunted in the west zone out of three years of duck hunting and so far not so good. I have faith it will get better but I have made 4 morning hunts so far this year and no ducks...not even any shots at ducks...could have shot at some teal on one hunt but they came out the fog so fast and left the same. I know I am not in the best area but I expected to see some ducks by now...well that is why they call it hunting...glad some people are into the ducks...one day when I have more money and experience maybe I will be too. Come on nasty weather:rolleyes:

huntin fool 11-18-2009 09:45 PM

Put it to you like this....If i dont kill saturday or Sunday......i will go nuts.

I will take desperate measures to kill ducks if i dont kill some soon....

It's a disease i have...i call it "duck-madness"....working a set of mallards, with a soaking wet lab looking at you like, "*** you going to shoot them or what sherlock???" Is my favorite thing in the world to do.

On my last trip to Big Lake....I saw about 10 Mallards along the edge of bank within casting distance. I think you could have gotten a limit in one shot.

Do you want to know where????

meaux fishing 11-19-2009 12:39 AM

Bring your shotgun and some bread to Dugas landing. All mallards. Should be an easy limit. You can even sleep late.

Pouldoo fly I thought they just floated down the river and walked to there final destination.

Raymond 11-19-2009 05:01 PM

42 birds total for our Grand Chenier lease,
3 hunts; 4 guns sat,2 guns sun and 2 guns tues
There are plenty of birds in our marsh just takes longer to scratch out the limit.

Deadly D 11-19-2009 07:14 PM

Well the bad news now. It sucked today in our marsh. 1 blind had 10, I had 5, 1 had 4 and 2 had 2. And we didnt see many ducks flying no where:(

all star rod 11-19-2009 07:18 PM

Time for a weather change......Hopefully, this rain passing on late FRI will help. Going tomorrow morning (FRI) and SAT.

callmaker 11-19-2009 07:29 PM

Got all my woodies today all males :)

all star rod 11-19-2009 07:33 PM

I have not went on a wood duck hunt in years......Glad for all the wood duck hunters they increased the limit for 2 to 3.....

huntin fool 11-19-2009 07:34 PM

While working my Lab today...

Seen 3 wood ducks, and 4 teal fly over my yard. Teal was paper plating and doing flips :) and landed in my back yard...

Really? I haven't seen near as many, and the marsh i live in is known for woodies, the year RITA came thru, that was the most i've ever seen

Shawn Braquet 11-20-2009 10:21 AM

the season after rita was our best season ever, limits every weekend out of 6 hunters till second split and 2 or 3 shy of limits second split

Shawn Braquet 11-20-2009 10:22 AM

that was in vinton off the sabine river
