I bought one used it about 2-3 times and upgraded to the straight razor. I just didn't like the feel of that. I couldn't be very precise with it. The straight razor is much easier to use and a lot more precise. Many ppl love the safety razor though. I just like the straight better. Both beat the stuff at Walmart. Go to the art of shaving and get you a kit. Great investment.

It has alot to do with your shaving cream! You getting it out a can or mix it yourself ?? It makes all the difference !

FF_T_Warren 03-22-2014 05:57 PM

I mix myself. Also use preshave oil and aftershave balm all from art of shaving. Way better than what most use. I just don't care for the safety razor. I mean precision as in outlining not closeness

It's from art of shaving. I think mine is the black handle one just like that

Goooh 03-22-2014 06:37 PM

I've used them with the mink hair brush and mixed lather, was nice. But, I do dollarshaveclub.com and am just as satisfied with their cheap stuff. For those who don't want the hassle, they deliver automatically every month...

MathGeek 03-22-2014 06:40 PM

I'm supposed to shave?

mriguy 03-22-2014 07:07 PM

I dry shave like a freakin man!!!!!

mink hair!! Pfffft!!

Goooh 03-22-2014 07:25 PM

x2 - 9 bucks a month and I don't have to ever worry about forgetting to get blades.

meaux fishing 03-22-2014 07:54 PM

One blade lasts me at least a month so I just buy the ones at the store

mriguy 03-22-2014 07:58 PM

I buy Wilkinson's at Wally World

And the mrs uses the overflow. Win win in my book.

capt coonassty 03-22-2014 08:43 PM

I've used one for about 1.5 years now. Wouldn't trade it for a multi blade razor. Bought a 100 pack of blades and haven't gone through halve yet.

Top Dawg 03-22-2014 08:50 PM

I need to try something different. The disposable ones the ol lady I usually have to use two per shave.

weedeater 03-22-2014 09:22 PM

Been thinking about just waxing what hair I have left.... I ruin a blade with one shaving with the wire I have

That is what our dads shaved with and what i grew up shaving with, I have gotten away from it as i have gotten older and the hands started shaking a bit.

That's the same razor my dad used! My god hadn't seen one of those in years..he taught me how to shave with that thing. I only have to shave like once a week, couldn't grow a duck commander beard if my life depended on it.

DannyI 03-22-2014 10:37 PM

Have several of those from way back, my dad's, in a display case. When I first started shaving, that's all there was, hated them, Knicks all over!! Haha

I just use a regular Mach 3 or whatever and water no shaving cream

Em591991 03-23-2014 12:13 AM

I use a straight razor and a bottle of rubbing alcohol.....on my balls

Estorms 03-23-2014 08:10 AM

Grew up with my dad using one. I used one for a long time till i lost it somewhere. IMO its a lot better shave than all these multi blade razors. I cant seem to get the multi blades clean while shaving no matter how much I rinse them. LOL think its time I get a new one

gasdad 03-23-2014 04:03 PM

Helpful hint: If you want your razor blade to last longer, just dip it in a shallow jar with rubbing alcohol in it after you finish shaving. It keeps water impurities and such from building up on the blade thus keeping it sharper. Works for me

cajunfisher 03-23-2014 09:07 PM

I have not had razor burn since I started using one.

Would you mind sharing your mix recipe? I never heard of mixing shaving cream, but think that is what my grandfathers did.

Atakapa Warrior 04-02-2014 05:11 PM

I use that exact Mercur... They are easy to use, the shave is awesome and the razors are cheap. Go old school and buy it. You will not regret it!

Straight Razor,

I take a shower every am and shave before I get out with the white and green razors from Wal-Mart...... no shaving cream, just a wet face.
