how many big trout addicts are here.hopefully im not alone.

Don't know bout trophy trout addicts, but there are a bunch of dink slingers!!!:eek:

Yeah everybody i potlick is always catching dinks... i need to change tactics... learn to potlick better:D

not i .... whatever eats my bait... i eat... dont care if its 12" or 20"... its on the table... i spend my money and its legal to keep fish so i do what i want !!

Im in the middle..winter time/spring i want big girls summer i might aswell sling dinks or bass fish

big trout here, some our big trout members are just lurkers they dont post

When I am on the water I am hog huntin. Tossing big baits lookin to lure in a fat girl. A little different than Bruce who uses his little bait to knock down the fat girls he lures in from the bars! :eek:

I would rather work all day for that one bite rather than sling the dinks during these months. Like Fool said I dont mind slingin'em in the heat but thats it.

Big Trout
 

This is going to be my first Winter/Spring where I'm going to really try and focus on big Trout. I love catching "Dinks", but I (For the most part) release all fish I catch, so I prefer to go after the good fight. I caught a 7 pounder last winter, and since then I've been hooked. My goal this winter/spring is to get one for the wall.

Yeah I'm looking for a wall hanger myself, but i may need to broaden my search for the hogs. I cant seem to find any really spectacular size to the specs I've been catching. But then again I just started targeting specs, last year.

I will give props to who ever goes and spends hours on hours looking for a wall hanger.....I just dont have the patients for that kind of fishing.... I like to catch not fish.... I know if I would take my time and fish them hogs I could stick a few but then again...I like to catch when Im on the water.... I fish areas that hold big trout so its just matter of luck to stick one out of the boat......

Oh don't get me wrong..........I love to catch fish just as much as the next guy, but the places I fish dont ever seem to have good size to them. I would just like to put a 6,7,8 pounder in the boat. Maybe I just dont know what to look for:confused:

I don't think there is any one place to catch a big 'un every time you go out.
You gotta catch a lot of fish to find the big 'un. So I eat all the little ones.
If'n I gotts a lot of dinks, I would release the hog. If not, I might hafta eat
the sow... I love eating fish. I eat it almost every day when I am at home.

its hard for people to really say they love trophy trout till they really caught a 7+ lbs. trout i know i got 2 and i can honestly say im always tryin to go bigger...but it never gets in my way when it comes to my passion for the trout and catching and eating them...

why do you NEED to catch a limit every trip when you give all the fish away anyway? why try to be like the guides? surely not for respect

If'n you fish with fellers who never get to fish much, there is no problem with letting
them have all or most of the fish.
If'n you fish with fellers who fish a lot, screw dem. Take your share.

my point is this, if someone chooses to fish meat, more power to them, we've all done it

the trophy fisherman has no reason to look down on them, and vice versa

My other point to W was that just because some of the guys that fish big baits for big fish doesn't mean they couldn't rape the schoolies at will....

tell yall what, this is my two cents on this... i love me sum yella moufs, big , or small, a limit is cool but when ya tryin ta catch one fer the wall, numbers are out the door.its really hard ta throw a bait all day in the hopes of just that one bite knowin a few yards away that ya can yank sum 12 inchers at will.but hey, ive been tryin ta not look at quantitiy but quality, soooo, we all needa just fish and remember thats why we do what we love sooo much. fish, not catchin is our passion, remember that the catchin part is just the icing on the cake tellin that red,speck or whatever , ha ha fooled ya !!! me and my boy fool will be tryin our luck with the help of other wadin nuts ta put a gal on the wall. so, to all, good luck and try ta be patient knowin itll pay off!

Bruce i KNOW YOU AINT HATEN:D..... I tag and release just about as many as I keep... You have to keep some fish.....Its part of the cycle..you will never I mean never fish it out with rod n reel....If you keep your estuary healthy.....:D..

You need a drink

I catch more that my wife and I eat, but I have a couple of friends who are older and can't fish. They get a boner that they haven't seen in 30 years when I bring them fish.
I keep 5 or 6 bags of Trout and 2 or 3 bags of Reds in the freezer. The rest get eaten the day we catch them or they are given to family or friends.
I don't like to find freezer burnt fish in my freezer.
I do have a buttload of Flounder in the freezer right now, but they don't bite like they are right now most of the year. I have prolly given away 50 Flounder in the past 3 weeks. And I don't see nuttin wrong wit dat.

Just started trying to go after biggens...I'm by no means a limit every trip guy...but gosh doggit I love being out there!! Theres that zen moment when the sun's orange rays are rising on the horizon and the smell of the salt...hmmmmm I miss it.

I'm just saying no matter what ya going for its just being there...
