2 yrs in a row now, we've planted eggplant. We have gotten 1 darn fruit from them. What's the trick?!

I'm not sure. Last year I planted the long green and grew a bunch. This year I planted the black beauty's. I'm hoping they do good. Have several blooms right now. Last year I cut my garden down but I left all my plants lay in the garden and left all the old fruits stay and rot in there. Plowed that up and before I played I tilled in a sack of lime. Once a week I feed with miracle grow.

Planted late, way behind the power curve... The hailstorm last Friday didn't help matters either  ...

All peppers and okra, not messing with tomatoes this year... Wal-Mart birds win ...

RAGINJROB 05-15-2013 08:43 PM

looks great TD. Planted mine the week after easter. Tried mostly seeds this time. Seems everything is growing real slow. Anyone know where I can find some white squash seeds? Mine must be bad. Already planted them twice and nothing.

I planted around the 2o of march. Had a frost right after that killed my first cucumbers but everything else survived. Replanted my cucumbers a week later and they are growing good now. I have a feeling I'm about to be up to my ears in tomatoes. Gonna be givin a lot away and canning a bunch.

We've got okra in the ground but, it is slow going. Cucumber, zucchini, squash, tomatoes and, japaleno peppers are doing good. Eggplant, watermelon and, Bell pepper also slow.

Better watch out for that Mexican. Don't won't him rummaging through there!

Top Dawg 05-16-2013 07:29 AM

I keep a close eye on my garden. Although if he gets behind my tomato plants I won't be able to see him

Garfish 05-16-2013 02:23 PM

Have 5 tomato plants about the same sizes shown in the pics. Done picked 5 already. Planted 1st wek of March. Also have a variety of pepper plants. They're doing ok also along with the herbs.
Have cucumber plants climbing all over and they have blooms but not producing fruit. Any suggestions?

Top Dawg 05-16-2013 02:38 PM

Might still be early. Once they start growing you won't be able to pick em fast enough

Mine is coming along real well. I didn't plant til 5/6 and planted corn (seeds), sweet potatoes (plants), spinach (seeds), lettuce (seeds), carrots (seeds), watermelon (seeds), cantaloupe (plants), banana peppers (plants), jalapeno peppers (plants), green bell peppers (plants), orange bell peppers (plants), cucumbers (plants), and onions (plants). My corn is growing like wildfire! That's the one I really can't wait for. All my pepper plants are also doing real well but it looks like only 1 of my cucumber plants will do well. A couple watermelon plants just poked out of the ground in the last few days and the lettuce, spinach, and carrots are all about an inch out of the ground. The banana peppers and green bell peppers have a few sprouts on them. The pic showing the corn was taken on 5/16 and now they are about twice that size. I just did this small one for this year but I already told my wife that I plan on making a bigger one for next year now that I see how much my little boy likes helping me out with it.

If all the blooms on my tomatoes throw a tomato the plants will weigh a hundred pounds. Several cucumbers and bell peppers along with a couple egg plants sprouted today. Won't be long fresh stuffed bells.

My garden is probably about like Jude's......growing very slowly.

Tomatoes have had flowers for 5 or 6 weeks but the biggest tomato is about 1 inch in dia.

Cucumber plants are just now starting to grow some. My biggest vine is probably only 2 foot in length, with one cucumber that is about 1" long.

Bell pepper plants are just now reaching ~12" tall and a couple pea size peppers.

Green beans plants.....some are now 8 feet tall now but the cold temperatures nipped the leaves 3 different times and really slowed the growth. The bean flowers started growing about 2 weeks ago, but the beans that started growing 5+ days ago are still only 1.5" to 2" long.

The yellow squash & zucchinis are doing the best. I may have some to pick in 2 or 3 days.

Leaf lettus and radishes have done well.
