We have a few blinds on miller property, and a couple north of Rockefeller. Where you at?

simplepeddler 04-06-2013 09:07 PM

Went up to our place yesterday, there were teal in a flooded sunflower field and greys on the big water.......

In between the mermentau and rockefeller, Marsh south of the hwy. May try and hunt some land to the north of the hwy this season.

lilrab1989 04-07-2013 07:30 AM

i was ready two days after it was over had to get some rest an give my live a break nothing like getting back to the truck every morning an opening that ice chest an popping the top on a cold one every day lol

simplepeddler 04-07-2013 10:03 AM

I need the rest too. When you start getting to the 50 mark, those days of hauling decoys, wrestling with boats, dogs, guns people, the occasional dunk in the marsh, pirogues in and out the boat, push poling five miles, and all this is on a GOOD day.......my body just needs to sit still for a week or two.

Course I'm ready for the war again now

Bdub 04-07-2013 10:15 AM

Yea no doubt rest is necessary, I actually gained weight during duck season...guess I'll blame it on the cold pops, Looking forward to my home cooked breakfast when i get back from hunting too, she said she dont wanna go hunting but will cook for me when i get back...fine with me!

Smalls 04-07-2013 10:17 AM

Watching Duckmen 16 this morning for some reason. Ready already. Just started thinking bout that pirogue I want to build for hunting Sabine. Place is a pain in the *** to walk in.

ricefields is the way to go get on the 4wheeler drive to the blind listen to the specks calling on the roost nothing more relaxing than that

specktator 04-07-2013 02:39 PM

Just got word from my land owners that they are going up on my lease, $60/acre 500acre minimum. So $30,000.00. Isn't worth it! Unbelievable what "yuppies" will pay for a place. I paid $5000.00 for 250 acres last year. Trying to work a deal with him on smaller acreage but it ain't lookin good for me this coming duck season.

Marsh few miles south of White Lake.

T-TOP 04-07-2013 03:04 PM

that sux... was it pretty good hunting? I Hunted White Lake, the guided part. WMA I guess. It was awesome hunting!

all star rod 04-07-2013 03:21 PM

Most leases that become open in the PI area that is owned by vermillion corp are being bid out now. They are getting a lot more per lease than what the peeps are paying that renew every year. It would not suprise me that in the near future they may try to bid it all out.

Yeh it was pretty decent. We kill 150+ teal every teal season and prob kill 400-500 birds during big duck season on that 250 acres. No where close to worth $30k though. Not for where I was hunting. If I pay $30k, I better be shooting limits every hunt.

Jadams 04-07-2013 03:55 PM

Hell ill guide sum1 everyday of the season for 30k

lilrab1989 04-07-2013 06:54 PM

That's crazy 30k I guide an we don't pay 30k for ten blinds people are loosening there minds when it comes to leasing blinds theses days most people that duck an goose hunt can't afford to pay that much blows my mind

meaux fishing 04-07-2013 07:25 PM

30 n 3 or bust

If you are leasing from someone and pay an average of 3k per blind (rice fields) and it is good hunting consider youself lucky...I pay over over twice as much for my one blind and most other leases in my area cost pretty much the same.

specktator 04-07-2013 08:24 PM

Just got off the phone with land owner. Said he will get back with me in 2 weeks. Said he "may" lease it to me on a per blind basis rather than the minimum of 500 acres. Say a few prayers for me.

jdm4x43732 04-07-2013 08:41 PM

Once all the blinds out price theirselves what will the average joe do to go hunting. Guided trips all season would get expensive quick.

SULPHITE 04-07-2013 08:46 PM

Guess I'll take up shooting..well never mind...guess I'll have to research "how to live like a liberal fart sniffer"

X2....I was at cabelas in gonzales today and decided to pick up 2 cases of shells even though i had a 1-1/2 cases from last year...you never know if they will be hard to get with the way things are going.

jdm4x43732 04-07-2013 09:51 PM

I've never hunted public land but it seems overcrowded already from post on here. Seems it will get worse before it gets better.

lilrab1989 04-08-2013 08:26 AM

specktator 05-21-2013 09:33 PM

Well looks like I am going to be able to hold on to my best blind for a little more than I really wanted to pay but I can't complain!
