Moonshiners!!!

I occasionally watch this Moonshiner show. I find the old man Jim Tom entertaining with his story. Reminds me of a great Uncle.

My question is, what does a quart of premium moonshine like that cost?

whunter29 02-13-2013 08:56 PM

I don't know but I would like to have some.

For a jar of 100 proof is $20/quart at Nunu's in Youngsville.

Sam's has 40 proof apple pie shine for about the same price. They also have the 100 proof shine with cherries.
Attachment 46252
Attachment 46253

My little boy loves Jim Tom. He does his best rendition of his songs and loves that I've started calling him Jim Tom. Lol

Quit hating!!!! This diet is making you gripe a lot. Go get a blizzard and come sing cum-bi-ya with us.

southern151 02-13-2013 10:22 PM

And, that's why the producer refers to the the individuals as characters...good detective work, w!

Wide Open 02-13-2013 10:24 PM

All the recent stuff is fake, but last seasons clips of Ole' Popcorn sutton, were real clips of his last run of shine! Knowing he was going to the pin to face hard time at his age he figured he'd make one last run and a somewhat documentary of his life and how he did it, before he did himself in to meet his maker!
That Ole' dude was moonshine @ it's finest! There's about 10 10min. Clips on you tube from the beginning to the end before he checked out! Once I watched one, I was hooked into the rest! Check it out! The dude was a hoot! His interview with Johnny Knoxville was priceless!

Man, anywhere else you can get that apple pie shine? I had some of that a year ago on a hunting trip, and let me tell you son, that stuff is awesome. Need to get my hands on some more of it.

It ain't what you think. Very little cherry flavor.

Several people in our area make shine. The store bought stuff ain't "shine" by any means. The flavored crap they have ain't nothing compared to the real thing either. People buy into the "moonshine" label and the crazy moonshiners show just helps move the product. Not a coincidence all this appeared around the same time.

Make your own
This is how I do it

ingredients:
1 gallon of Apple juice
1 gallon of Apple Cider
3 cups of white sugar 1 1/2 c. White 1 1/2 c. Brown
1 cup of cinnamon sugar
a few shakes of ground cinnamon
8 cinnamon sticks
1 1/5 of everclear or shine
9 quart sized mason jars
1/2 c. lemon Juice
1 Tsp all spice
and a few other secret ingredients

Steps:
mix all ingredients into big pot except for alcohol
bring to boil stirring occasionally
leave at a medium boil until sticks begin to unroll
remove from heat and let cool several hours
once cool add alcohol
pour into mason jars and refrigderate.
Bring to next social event and enjoy amongst friends

Let it sit for a few week before you drink it.
