Ite.... Here is what I drew up so far...... Boats 21ft and I want atleast a 7 1/2 front deck..... Not sure how big to go on back deck...... Look at the picture and give any info or thoughts you might have...Thanks

cmdrost 10-15-2009 03:30 PM

with that kind of front deck, you ought to add the rod boxes on the sides. They would be build in and have the step look that most other bay boats have.

these W.. i wish we had those

jpeff31787 10-15-2009 03:40 PM

another thing that i'd like to have too, is rod holders on the sides of the boat instead of just at the center console

"W" 10-15-2009 03:40 PM

If I get them Thats where I will have em ..on the sides..... You will be able to place 8 rods in on the Center Console...... might even add 3 more spots on the back of the seat

wtretrievers 10-15-2009 03:42 PM

What about 2 dry storage compartments on the front deck? Can never have enough storage!

I heard this complaint several times from a previous Haynie owner. It was really the only thing he didn't like about the boat was the lack of storage.

How big you think...... You know what I want....

wtretrievers 10-15-2009 03:51 PM

You really don't need to redesign, just add another dry storgage on the left side. Make them as big as possible.

Thats nice but where is my Trolling Motor going to fit???

Jordan 10-15-2009 04:01 PM

nice bruce.. maybe move anchor box to the right and leave a slot for TM ???

LaAngler 10-15-2009 04:02 PM

slide the anchor locker back a bit it has room, the mount bolts right to the edge basically.

with rod lockers you can also lock all your tackle up and park at walmart worry free
i am kinda basing this off of the big ranger's layout

the fuel cell should be under deck right? if so you can put your deep cycles under console

LaAngler 10-15-2009 04:14 PM

give up the livewell then for real estate, you dont use livies

and i think that pic earns you an infraction also W

bigdog 10-15-2009 04:15 PM

Where you going to put the 3 batteries at, W

Also dont forget the bait boxes in the center console, that way you dont have to load your tackel boxes every time.

Have them put one of these through the console for your charger. No opening & plugging in charger & having to leave console door open. Doesnt seem like much but its worth the $20 is you use your boat alot!

bigdog 10-15-2009 04:25 PM

That a lot of weight for the center and the back of the boat.

I saw a cool design that had a cut out for a 120 yetti....that way you can remove the fish box. Also the side compartments were rod boxes. When ice chest was in, it gave you your straight line look you are wanting.

cabwiz2 10-15-2009 04:39 PM

Look at the triton layout I have the 24 but the 22 is almost the same except for the floor ice chest. Take note on the ice chest in front of the console. I personaly dont like it on front deck because if you are fishing 2 up there and need to put fish in it someone is always in the way or could fall in it when fighting a fish. the floor icechest is awesome to leave open when hauling in alot to just kick in. but back to the layout. 2 rod boxes and a huge front dry storage/fish box and anchor locker in front. a live well and a baitwell and battery access door on rear. Then on the side there is 3 rod spots on each side going forward and backward so you can fit 6 on each side. I dont know if a 21' boat can go both ways but at least one way. I love this because I hate the console to be full when I am driving. Also dont forget to put 2 angled flush mount rod holders on each side on the rear deck. As for as more storage you can always use the bait and live well so make sure to have a nice size hatch cover on these and have a way to turn them off or hook a hose to so you can washdown.

cmdrost 10-15-2009 04:45 PM

I sent you an email with a rough design of what I was talking about. Lots of storage.

Ite....Cool deal.... I just want to hear all the pros and cons..I want this baby set up right!!

cabwiz2 10-15-2009 04:53 PM

Did you take my recomendation about the black console. Also if you plan on puting any speakers anywhere besides the console either have them ruun the wires or leave pull ropes (expecially between rod boxes and liner)

Nasty 10-15-2009 05:13 PM

layout...

A double insulated fishbox in the floor would be the perfect place. Also, you might want to add a hatch for a castnet.
