"W" 12-26-2012 11:56 AM

Why in God creation would someone be on the water today with Gail force winds and wind advisory till Midnight

Kind of fits the saying " today was a good lesson learned "

And tide is 3ft below normal .... Good luck having anyone going in that weather to get him... I know the sheriff boat is dry docked at Heberts

Hebert 12-26-2012 11:58 AM

where is super cut at? last week i was circling the island by cal point and got stuck in mud, ...BARELY got out...when i my trolling motor started to die out,,i fired up my motor and said F-it..i'm motoring out this B...and somehow managed to do it..limped back to cal point and managed to get water flowing through pee hole again.....not a happy feeling.....hope he gets some help!

Jadams 12-26-2012 12:32 PM

He going to have to do one of two things...... Leave his boat or wait for tide to come back in...

Your not getting to him with a boat right there with tide 3 1/2 low now....it will come back in later today but not even to normal

Where was he going???

BayBolt23 12-26-2012 01:17 PM

I told him to throw his anchor and jump in with game wardens and get a ride back later with Calcutta. Cutting through headed to long point.

BayBolt23 12-26-2012 01:20 PM

Straight dumb as s!!!!!:headknocker:

It wasn't a good thing I might of went 40 yards and it just stop. I looked down at maybe 2 inches of water and said we screwed. She started crying of course.

If it makes you feel any better, Dad and I got it like that a couple of years ago in Dularge. Fortunately, WLF was out in an airboat that day and was able to pull us out...After a few hours of using my push pole like a prybar, using my 40 like a mud motor and, getting out and pulling like a mule pulling a plow in mud!!

Needless to say, I'll never go back to Dularge after a couple of days of north winds!:work:

BTW, Outcast told me where to go that day and Fishinpox laughed at me when I called him and asked when the tide was due to come in that day!:smokin:

jgannard 12-26-2012 05:57 PM

Man that must of sucked.

Jadams 12-26-2012 05:58 PM

Here is a little advice on Big Lake.

NORTH WINDS LOW TIDE....Stay away from Islands, banks, and west cove entrance

I thought the same for you! I was lucky...There wasn't a woman in my boat when it happened. I think I'd rather take an arse whoopin' then have to do that with my wife on board!:rotfl:

Corey:"Hey pox when's the tide supposed to come in?"
Me "stuck in the mud huh?"
Corey"€£*%~|€£¥¥ $&@);:"
Me" yeah bro about that tide , the wind is supposed to blow 25 out of the north for the next 2 days "

Lmao I think I was laying in bed when I got the call lmao!!!

I remember when I got stuck in timbalier bay last summer with my fiancé , mosquitoes made me look like I had brail all over my body!! She cried also. Come to think of it I think she has cried more time aboard my boat than on dry land! Lol

Look at today's tide.... As of right now its just getting to normal or little less

You bought land during the -3ft stage in a lake that averages 3.5ft

flounder_smacker 12-26-2012 08:55 PM

today at 230 i walked out about 150 yards off of pelican point picking up debris off the bottom in knee high lacross boots. no way i would of been in a boat today. you should be able to get out tomorrow afternoon the winds supposed to switch.

Hebert 12-26-2012 10:23 PM

how deep did you sink in the mud when you walked to meet the WLF boat?

jgannard 12-26-2012 10:27 PM

Not much it was really hard bottom.

calcutta37 12-27-2012 12:14 AM

Glad you and the boat are safe you could still be out there frozen right now.

Yes can do. I did it about 3 years ago. 44 deg. water, tennis shoes and blue jeans.
Had to turn the boat around and push to deeper water. Dude I had with me was his first time in Big Lake.
I was just South of Rabbit Island. I ran there the evening before, looking for clear water, with no issues.
NW winds came in over night and low tide. BAM. 35 mph to 0 mph in about 15 ft.
Had no choice, but to get out and push, or sit till night time and hope the winds calmed down and tide came in.
Picture is on here somewhere.

This was the dude with me. He had waders with him.
The picture was taken after the boat was turned around.
Boat weighs 1960 lbs dry. Sitting hard on bottom of a reef.
We fished till 1 pm after this snafu.

No one else could get to us. And we wasn't scared.
Winds were in the mid 20 mph's.
Temps were in the lower 40's.
Water temps was in the mid 40's.
Only clear water we found was 6" deep, right were that pic was taken.

Only good thing about this trip, the dude was 6'4" and 250 lbs. That helped a lot.
