towing thread

Not sure if there is a thread already but i thought it would be a good idea. Just post your vehicle info and boat info. Such year make model and engine size and then boat length amd weight. Also how well it tows.
I have a 2000 chevy blazer 4.3 v6 2wd and just tow a 16ft mod v jon. Weight is probably around 1200lbs tows just fine. Wish it had a longer wheelbase though

mriguy 12-06-2012 08:55 PM

2007 Chevy Silverado, 4.8L V8, pulling a RARELY used 2011 Xpress 20ft with a Yammy 115. Pulls really easy but MPG goes down to about 12.

More likely that you would have a prius for a dingy

Seen him do a 3 point turn. I was impressed.

huntin fool 12-06-2012 10:00 PM

F150 with the 4.6... Gas mileage blows without a load.. Don't even want to find out what I get when I'm pulling my rig around. Going to really suck once I upgrade to 35s

Should've seen when he jack knifed it, messed his "deck" up!

OhSoEasy 12-06-2012 10:22 PM

2009 Jeep Wrangler unlimited on 35s pulling a 16 ft alumaweld. I wouldn't recommend this setup at all

vbay 12-07-2012 08:44 PM

2011 GMC 5.3 & tow pack. 20-22 hwy no load, 9mpg anything over 1 ton

LPfishnTIM 12-08-2012 12:03 AM

05 f150 4.6 v8 when I pulled a 18ft xpress w/ 150 4stroke yammy only get 9mpg, but I adverage 15 in city 18 on highway. sometimes I get a little better on hwy but not often!

weedeater 12-08-2012 02:19 PM

05 F150 KR, 5.4, 4x4 Screwcab with 33" tires, gets about 10mpg towing 17x44 Alweld boat or anything else and 15 unloaded...... love me some gas stations

jldsc 12-08-2012 02:26 PM

'08 2500 z71 crewcab duramax pullin a 24HO Haynie..14mpg if i keep it between 70-75 mph 17-18mpg .unloaded

jpeff31787 12-08-2012 06:24 PM

08 Chevy z71 5.3 pulling a 19' nautic star. Truck has bigger tires, not quite 33s. I get about 13-14mpg with no boat and right around 10 with our boat.

Keywest18 12-08-2012 10:17 PM

I knew i was gonna regret making this thread.... I get the same mpg as you guys but have a v6... I could've had a v8 :headknocker:

Troubass 12-08-2012 10:30 PM

1999 2-door 4x4 Tahoe, 5.7L, 6" lift, 35" tires, 4.56 gears. I get about 12.5-13.5mpg not towing. 11.5mpg towing an 18' Alweld with 50hp Tohatsu.

It tows the Jonboat effortlessly with the 4.56 gears and it will go most anywhere with the Toyo MT's but good gas mileage is not an option.

My 2008 jeep liberty 4x4 lifted tows great. I tow my 22' baja play boat with tandem trailer that I know is super heavy with big block in it. Tows it beautiful just do not plan to stop fast in the rain. It's rated at towing 5000lbs what really surprises me. Gas mileage sucks though. Everyday driving in the city I get maybe 16-17, pulling the boat almost makes me throw up.

That v6 will leave me 4.6 v8 though I promise.

Keywest18 12-09-2012 08:55 AM

The only thing i like about my v6 is they're very reliable. If it was in something with a longer wheelbase i wouldnt complain (as much). But ill be happy when i get another 5.7 vortec

jchief 12-09-2012 09:39 PM

06 F350 Crew cab, 4 x 4, single tire rear w/ 6.0 Powerstroke. Pulls a 21' Frontier with ease and a 31' 13,000 lb 5th wheel. 14.5 MPG all around, 12 pulling boat and 10 pulling camper.

Yea, it's an 18' Allweld with a 50hp tiller steer, great for chasing trout and running to the weir to castnet for shrimp.

fishfighter 12-10-2012 06:08 PM
