How would you respond to this text

Hey its megan...I was wondering if u can help me out cuz i have 2 pay 4 his circomsition and i dont have it...If u cant i understand i just dont have any1 else to ask.

This was sent to me from a friends pregnant girl. He is incarcerated due to his own ignorance. This is the second time she has asked for money. Me and my wife are college students with 2 kids. How would you respond to this text. Man we struggle to make ends meet. I feel like my kindness is being mistaking for weakness.

mcjaredsandwich 02-28-2012 02:59 PM

Tell her that her son can always get it removed down the road.

southern151 02-28-2012 03:00 PM

A simple no would do it. I've been in your shoes and eventually, I had to let everyone know that "The Bank of Corey" closed. It affected some folks that considered themselves close friends but, when I can barely pay my own bills, I sure can't worry about someone elses!

In short, If they can't get it from the bank or family, it isn't your job to get it for them.

BIG RED 1983 02-28-2012 03:01 PM

its not a necessity so tell them to save their favors for something that they may really need in the future

BIG RED 1983 02-28-2012 03:02 PM

you can donate her some of your sc cash

latravcha 02-28-2012 03:02 PM

What does she look like??

This. Besides it isn't like circumcision is mandatory. I think that's pretty nervy to ask something like that of someone who isn't family.

latravcha 02-28-2012 03:06 PM

Probably not going to use the money for what she is telling she needs it for.

This is my thoughts exactly. I sent the text to my wife. Lol. This should be interesting. How much does this procedure cost. I payed for my sons surgery but that was 6 years ago.

Loneshark 02-28-2012 03:17 PM

???? She has to pay in advance?

SaltERedneck 02-28-2012 03:18 PM

circumcisions are cosmetic anyways.... they can be done anytime. just easier and less likely for the kid to remember at a young age..... Tell em what you said in your post. you are two people struggling in school with 2 kids. end of discussion.

Insurances do NOT pay for circumcisions so this may be true... dont know the regulations on this but hospitals normally charge this as a total bill after the fact.

Outpatient services are a completely different story.

jdm4x43732 02-28-2012 03:30 PM

Let her borrow some scissors. Or set her up on a payment plan. One lump sum paid in full up front!!

I had to do the same thing as Corey a few years ago, now if they need grocery or diaper money, I offer to bring them groceries or diapers and they get pissed. Be careful this doesn't seem too legit, but she may be for real

PUREBAY2200 02-28-2012 03:34 PM

Tell Megan to get a job and pick a better man next time.

SaltERedneck 02-28-2012 03:35 PM

Hahahaha.... Seems as though she
already payed with it once and look where she ended up.....:work:

SaltERedneck 02-28-2012 03:48 PM

Louisiana medicaid does not cover circumcision... its cosmetic and considered non-therapeutic.

Duck Butter 02-28-2012 03:53 PM

I ain't very old, but I have become very blunt in my last few years, especially now that I have kids. I would say HELL NO! You need to look out for yourself first and foremost especially since you have kids. You will NEVER EVER EVER get that money back. BUT, in a way if its only $100 or so, it may be a wise investment to give them the money and that way you will likely never see them again;)

Hopedale Hustler 02-28-2012 04:42 PM

It cost about 300-400 bucks depending on where you get it done I just paid for mah lil boys a few months ago he was born on Christmas day but I had to pay for it a couple months before...

fishinpox 02-28-2012 06:44 PM

Man if I lent out $ to every mooch that sakes me I'd be broke! I'd make em work for it , tell her to clean your house 2x a week for a month to give your wife a break or something

Just curious
On a serious note
Tell her to get bent

fishinpox 02-28-2012 08:15 PM

Asks ... Fingers are faster than brain

Ray 02-28-2012 08:27 PM

If you give her money once, she will never stop asking.
Let her go to the boyfriends parents or hers.
Not a friend of a friend.

I'm a Christian, and I like to give, but sometimes the best advice to give someone in need is to tell them to pray or pray with them. I can't tell you how many times God has answered my prayers and provided for me when I trusted in him. Most of the time the answer to my prayers meant an adjustment to my own plans and some discipline to accomplish my needs. I know this takes faith, and some people will believe it or totally try to rely on what they can make happen by manipulating and using people. regardless of what she thinks, she will have to discipline herself to be able to provide for her kid, you helping her out is just enabling her from working or having faith. Harsh truth!

On a serious note, when my son was born he had a plastibell put on. the Dr. put the little cap over his wee-wee stretched the skin over it then tied a string around it. Fell off in about 3 days and only cost $75

That failed on our son. Bad deal!!

FF_T_Warren 02-29-2012 12:16 AM

Tell her to go to EKL in BR. The doctors there do it free.

You have got that totally wrong and backwards. You give people like that money and they will be back asking for more. But if you tell them no, then they will likely not ever ask again.

Ray 02-29-2012 08:10 AM

Let the kid play with it for a few years, then let him decide if he wants to keep it or cut it off.

Big Flounder 02-29-2012 08:29 AM

Just tell her there is nothing wrong with a lil ant eater! He will be unique!

I agree. I would also add that if you have the money to give that's one thing. I can't imagine you do being in school with 2 kiddos. A simple "I'm sorry but I just don't have it right now" should get you out of it and maybe be alright with your friend that's incarcerated. Now if you're not very close to that friend, maybe just a no would do.

longcast 02-29-2012 05:40 PM

Thanks for the help guys. Sc rocks. I gre up with this guy. We just took separate paths a several years ago. My wife just looked at me an laughed. I asked her how someone even ask a question like that. She said obviously through a text. Lol. I would help with diapers and groceries but that's about as much as we can do. Once again guys thanks.

Big Flounder 02-29-2012 07:58 PM

Some people just have some nerve. My brother n law did 7 years and when he got out he called my wife and said I'm coming pick up your boat tomorrow so me and some of my friends can go ride! She told him he fell on his damn head and he flew off the handle! He didn't even ask. I know that's a lil off topic but he calls for money all the time.

Raymond 02-29-2012 09:13 PM
