About to pull the trigger and order the new 10' power Pole "blade" and a atlas hydraulic jackplate . I have a 24' triton lts any ideas on what size set back would be best for this boat as far as jackplate? 8"? 10"? 12"? And why?
|
How much for the 10' power pole I want 1
|
8" jack plate is all you need on a bay boat. Anything more is overkill. Only time more setback benefits is on a bass boat or a flats boat that has a performance pad.

I wouldn't want dual power poles, on my old boat I had a single and I liked the pivot one just one. You could stab it and use the TM to position how u wanted the boat so every one in the boat could fish , and so you could pivot to block out potluck ears when they get to close!

The reason I say that, is I have had 3 Bob's on new rigs since 2006 with zero issues. But my Atlas is one year old and has had warranty work done 2 times, each time replacing the ram and motor (customer pays labor and freight - parts are 'free' from Atlas) First time the pump would leak down randomly - trailered from Grand Isle to New Orleans - started up and ended flat down. That was replaced. Then that 2nd unit would not trim up over 5,000 rpm (could not handle the torque with positive trim) this time replaced with a stronger motor - so they say. Will go with Bob's next time around. |
