Do it once won't do it again unless its my lab

weedeater 12-15-2011 06:59 PM

I tried the pepper trick and my dogs ate the crap, one thing that I found is where ever they dig when you fix the hole put their crap on top of dirt, they won't dig there agin.

my togs go tag team, lab digs deep as she can then my 80lb curr jumps in and goes to town...... they have dug tunnels under my slab before, try filling in a 4-5' tunnel:pissed:

Try putting their poop where they dig, it has worked in the past for me.

If it is the same spot, lay some chicken wire in that area and bury with about an inch of dirt.
My lab used to dig on the North side of my house. Rolled out the chicken wire and he couldn't get any deeper than that wire. He finally gave up. But he didn't dig anywhere else but that North side of the house.

I have burried concreat to fill holes and like Ray put down wire and it helps but I always jk that if someone starts diggin in my back yard later on the gonna think they found ancient ruins

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

kenmore_mo 12-16-2011 01:48 PM

I am not a trainer but they dig because they are bored, springers are somewhat active and need plenty of exercise. If left alone to long, they will find something to do.

try and let one armadilloe loose in there a night.............Springers HATE armadilloes for some reason..............they will weat themselves out in due time and sleep like a babe..........armadilloe will sleep with the fishes

Cut some pieces of re-bar 1-2 ft long and drive em in a few inches apart flush with the ground, if your pen is big this would suck. Or I've seen a few people run a hot wire like the ones from tractor supply for cows around the bottom of the kennel.

FiberglassMan21 12-16-2011 09:17 PM

They arent penned they just roam free in my half acre yard that fence around i have a hot wire ran already cuz they have been gettn out solved that problem now gotta stop them from diggen all together

1fastmerc 12-16-2011 09:28 PM

Put those cute little boots on their paws. :-)

naa if they work on my dog the wife would want to keep them and I almost have her convinced to get rid of the freakin animals

Ray 01-07-2012 02:44 PM

The chicken wire won't hurt the dogs feet.
But it will only work if they dig in one area,
or along a fence, wall, house... ect.
You can't put chicken wire all over a 1/2
acre yard.
