I have two english springer spaniel puppies both about a year old i need help the female keeps digging holes all in my yard any advice to help make her stop i tried putting cayanae pepper that didnt help so i bought ghost pepper (supposedly the HOTTTEST pepper) im afraid that it will hurt them if they eat it. Any adivice will help

Do it once won't do it again unless its my lab
|
I tried the pepper trick and my dogs ate the crap, one thing that I found is where ever they dig when you fix the hole put their crap on top of dirt, they won't dig there agin.
|
IVe tried filling in the hole but she digs like 3 feet i sware i wish i had her when i needed excavating work done

Try putting their poop where they dig, it has worked in the past for me.

If it is the same spot, lay some chicken wire in that area and bury with about an inch of dirt.
My lab used to dig on the North side of my house. Rolled out the chicken wire and he couldn't get any deeper than that wire. He finally gave up. But he didn't dig anywhere else but that North side of the house. |
I have burried concreat to fill holes and like Ray put down wire and it helps but I always jk that if someone starts diggin in my back yard later on the gonna think they found ancient ruins

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! |
I am not a trainer but they dig because they are bored, springers are somewhat active and need plenty of exercise. If left alone to long, they will find something to do.

Cut some pieces of re-bar 1-2 ft long and drive em in a few inches apart flush with the ground, if your pen is big this would suck. Or I've seen a few people run a hot wire like the ones from tractor supply for cows around the bottom of the kennel.
|
They arent penned they just roam free in my half acre yard that fence around i have a hot wire ran already cuz they have been gettn out solved that problem now gotta stop them from diggen all together
|
Put those cute little boots on their paws. :-)

The chicken wire won't hurt the dogs feet.
But it will only work if they dig in one area, or along a fence, wall, house... ect. You can't put chicken wire all over a 1/2 acre yard. |
