LCD TV help

I need an entry level 46-52 inch 1080p LCD, best bang for the buck? thanks

thinking about waiting until the black friday sales...

Trent Buxton 08-26-2009 05:10 PM

Hard to beat samsung since they own all the pattons to the technology. The best time to buy a tv is the week after Christmas during that big football bowl season week around New Years. Sales patterns always show thats the week to buy TV's year in year out. But if you find a deal black friday jump on it.

LaAngler 08-26-2009 05:13 PM

I have a 42" samsung DLP and it's nice for the money.....my dad bought a 50" panasonic and it has a amazing picture

SULPHITE 08-26-2009 06:31 PM

panasonic makes great plasmas....i've got a pioneer plasma...awesome pic quality

Vizio is the best bang for your buck...

HDTV is a must if you get a HD TV...don't think regular cable is gonna look great on an HD TV

But once you start watching HD you will scoff at a regular cable signal

Trent Buxton 08-26-2009 07:55 PM

In my bed room and kids rooms we have three Samsung 42" DLP HDTV 1080p paid $950 for each of them. And we have a 56" samsung DLP HDTV 1080p in living room paid $1150 for it. All bought at Conns in Lake Charles. All bought that week after christmas and before the big bowl games and nfl playoffs start. Just cant beat the prices during that two week period....they fall out.

STAY AWAY FROM PLASMA....TERRIBLE GLARE FROM GLASS FRONT. (dlp, lcd, and led do not have glass front they have lexan front so no glare)....also if a plasma breaks throw it away and buy another....$$$$$$ to work on it. Learned lesson the hard way.

SULPHITE 08-26-2009 08:03 PM

Plasma are best at producing dark colors, blacks(color) and fast motion...can't put one in a very bright room yes...

ShadMan 08-26-2009 08:10 PM

Vizio 46" @ Costco around $900 or so if I remember right. 55" for $1500. I've had the 46" for about 2 years (I paid $1700 for it back then  ) and love it. Buying the 55" this weekend. ;)

SULPHITE 08-26-2009 08:15 PM

Nice...Gotta love new toys...love my blu ray with my surround sound...

Trent Buxton 08-26-2009 08:24 PM

My grandma could not believe the difference that HD makes....she came to watch a LSU game a few years ago before it was real popular and was floored at the difference....needless to say ..paw paw had to go buy a new TV. LOL

blackmamba 08-26-2009 08:31 PM

Vizio

I like my Sony but if I had to do it again I would go with a Vizio, best bang for the buck.

Big Flounder 08-26-2009 09:40 PM

cmdrost 08-27-2009 08:12 AM

Have 47" Samsung LCD in living room with the surround sound and love it....also have 32 inch Vizio in bedroom...equally as good picture

Go LCD....better viewing angles from whereever you're sitting.

CMD noooo:)...Plasma offers better viewing angles...LCD will "wash out" while viewing from the sides and viewing vertically...but!! Technology is getting better and viewing angles of LCDS is better.

tell u what i got a 50" vizio plasma and paid $1300 bucks for it. i think they are even less than that now. think they go for like $1100 at sam's. def best bang for your buck! people say bad things about plasmas. i been having mine for almost 2 years now and havent had a prob.

HDTV's

Go to http://www.tigerdirect.com then go to the TV's section. They have some good deals sometimes. I order all my computer parts from them. They're a pretty good company. Just keep checking the site sometimes they'll be running discounts or they'll be doing free shipping.

LaAngler 08-27-2009 09:48 AM

would LCD be better for gaming than a plasma?

this site seems to link together good reviews and deals

i also play ps3 a lot! i play ncaa 10' on my ps3 just about everyday right now, and before that i was playing call of duty 4 a whole lot. i have never had any problems with my plasma. now it wouldnt be smart to like pause your game and leave it on the screen for a long time, at least just turn tv off.

After doing a lot of research we decided to go with Vizio rather than one of the typical name brands. Also side by side viewing comparison helped clinch the deal. It's a great TV, quality picture & sound at a reasonable price. With what it cost to go to the movies now days it has been worth the cost of the flat screen TV to have a quality movie viewing experience at home. We have been so impressed with this TV that we ended up purchasing a 37" Vizio for the bedroom. While originally looking at flat screen TVs we weren't sure if we wanted to go with plasma or LCD. The plasma TVs have a shiny screen; so there would be reflections from every window & light source reflecting off the shiny plasma screen. I was a bit apprehensive about the matt screen of the LCD. Yes you get deeper blacks with plasma, but in the end we made the right choice going with the LCD since we didn't want to contend with reflections bouncing off the screen. Vizio makes a nice quality product at a good price.

I'm looking at the 50" Samsung Plasma for $1099 on amazon, vizio's comparable model retails at $1050 or so, I guess they are cheaper in the store.

I do like the look of plasma but will have to do some more shopping around.
