Better Know Where You Going

1 Attachment(s)
Pulled up to this poor guy Saturday afternoon at 2:00PM, walked over to him to make sure he was OK, he said he was fine and that he had been on the sandbar since 5:30AM and that we were the 1st boat he had seen all day. With a lil cajun engineering we were able to get him to the water and send him on his way. Any guess on where this was????

mcjaredsandwich 10-31-2011 05:08 PM

Wow! Very unfortunate. Nice of yall to help him out.

lol ive been in the same position at the wax a few times when i was younger. when the tide goes out hard over there you better be in deep water. that being said he could have got out if he had a gatortail.

X2 nothing getting off that sandbar besides a airboat. Sand is like a big suction cup on a boat. Tears up a prop fast fast too

I hope he brought plenty of beer!

SaltyShaw 11-01-2011 06:46 AM

Same thing happened to me at the Wax when I was in college. And we were in my aluminum center console. Parked my boat, went hunting, and came back to it just like that. Luckily, I had about 5-6 guys with me and we were able to push it back into the water.

Wax was my first thought. I've only been there a few times but, I have seen the tide pull, and push real hard down there. I've been warned of that scenario, in that water, since before I ever even knew how to get to Wax.

speck cc 11-01-2011 11:27 AM

man, that sucks... i've been stuck, never that long though!

Montauk17 11-01-2011 11:31 AM

What's so bad about the wax is it changes every year. I been out there a few times and got stuck but never that bad.

duckfreak 11-01-2011 02:22 PM

Poor guy didn't park, he was running down a channel had marked on GPS, looked down at GPS and drifted off course, and hit that sand bar running, he said that he thought no problem I'll just get out and push, but when he jumped out the boat, the water didn't even cover the top of his boots, he said it was very deceiving in the dark, there was just enough water to cover the bar and then it all left.....

Dang that sucks. Haven't been out there in 5 or so years. Tough hunting. Gotta stay on your track on that GPS for sure. I would go with some guys that grew up in the area and would just follow them to the tricky spots in the dark most of the time.
