Trollin Motor Size?
Buying a X19 Xpress boat next week and will be replacing t/m and wonder what yall suggest. I have been looking at used ones and would like a 80lb since boat has battery setup for 24v but I am seeing several 101lb models for good prices, what yall think.

x2 dad picked up a used one off a demo bass boat for 400. Look around and hit up marine shops to see if they have one like that...he runs half power and we dont need to big motor on his 20ft champion bass boat.

Better to have the power when you need it instead of needing it and not having it.

I want a Fortex Minn Kota and they run about $1200 for a 80lb new but I have seen a few used 101lb Fortex for $600ish, is there a reason people get rid of the 101lb

that's somthin that bothers me, the boat has 3 optima red tops in it now so I was thinking I could just buy a new cranking battery but when the 3 tm batteries go out that would suck to replace.

With your money it shouldn't bother you. Probably got that much in your console in your truck.

You may be onto something there !!! Start "Googling" the part number off of the 101's in question and look for reviews...
Personally I would stick with a 24v setup already in the Express, but thats just me...
When are you taking delivery ??? Pic time :D

I've heard that old blue Ford doesn't even have a console. Talk about making some crooks mad! Especially when they find out the doors aren't even locked.

I had to pull the axle out and use a hammer to get the studs in. The impact wouldn't do it.

I've already told him that but he won't listen. I'll put money that when it's all said and done it has an 80lb on it.

from what I am seeing its not worth the trouble, I will have to not only get another battery but change out or add to onboard charger when I can just get me a 24v 80lb and bolt it down and be done.

You didn't ask about the effort to put it on. Which your patients won't allow you to do it your self. You asked about size. You would see a big difference in performance. It's like a boat that's rated for a 200 but you put a 115 on it. It's gonna move the boat but not as good

80 is plenty. Fished out of a X19 in all conditions with a 82 and had no trouble, 101 would be better if you were fighting a 20+ wind all day that is about the only benefit. As far as paying to replace batteries....when you buy a big boat you have to pay to play.

I've got the saltwater version of the 80 fortrex on my 21 bay boat(3/16 aluminum hull) and it works great. It should drag an express around without any struggle!
