They Think 300 trout is a lot..lmao

Them Texans just dont know what trout fishing is.....They think this pic back when Salty was 75 years old...Is a lot of trout lmao

If I wanted to catch and release many of days......I could catch 300+ trout easy on Big Lake.....In Venice and Grand Isle they do this daily

What a bunch of YONKS

Best Quotes from this Thread::rotfl::rotfl:

I have a cousin that is 73 years old and tells me stories like this all of the time... Unbelievable but true!

My dad tells me about stories like this as well from lighted piers when he was a kid fishing with his father.

Holy cow, on our last trip out I was tired after filleting 16 fish. I couln't imagine having to fillet 697

It's not hard to catch/kill 25 12" trout. Keep making that trip home. Our bays are already too crowded and there's no fish here anyways.

**************BEST ONE OF ALL**********************

4 guys...75 fish each, was there a limit in those days? It's no wonder there is a decline in gamefish populations today. I realize it was a different time, and I'm no tree hugger, but 300 fish is over the top IMO.

LMAO this dude thinks these 4 guys whipped out the trout population..Poor guy....He dont even have a clue here!!! This is what you have fishing your lakes and driving boats...

Im just saying...catching 300 trout is not a big deal and is a common thing to do if you wanted....Im not saying i could catch that every time but in July Im sure I could of had 10 days where I could of boated 500 trout if I wanted to fish that long.....
When you have 60 in the boat at 8 am....its not hard to do in 6 more hours

evidrine 09-20-2011 09:36 AM

Not doubting your madd skilz, like in July. lol Just thought it was pretty hilarious the way you put it.

There are a few of us here that are old enough to remember when a good trip was measured in how many ice chest of filets you brought home. fill up the freezer and sell the rest for .20 lb to the grocery store or fish mkt to pay for the trip.
75 trout pp would not have qualifed as a "good" trip.
Not saying it was right ,Just the way it was. No one even kept redfish back then.
They were just another trash fish.

mcjaredsandwich 09-20-2011 10:22 AM

Bruhhh.....it aint hard to catch trout bruhh. We had 2000 in the box before the first cast brruuhh. In all honesty I wouldnt mind catching that many on a day, Ive only caught a limit once and that was friday.

evis102 09-20-2011 10:54 AM

The average catch per effort on Big Lake is 3 trout (LDWF study)

Your heads about to explode if your ego gets any bigger. How pointless would your life be if you could not catch another trout in your lifetime?

Hell you could go out and catch that many right now with 3-4 people in the boat. We had our 45 around 9:00 this morning, caught and released at least that many more in the same spot by 11:00. Moved to one more spot and caught em almost every cast there till about 12:30 then my guys got tired and we left em biting. Easy 100+ morning with 3 people, and I might have only caught 6-7 today....I let them catch em all. So it definitely is possible

Most Pilgrims dont understand.....Trout fishing is easy.....Nothing hard about it....yes some days are bad and 80% of trips are limits ....and more..

I might do a vid this winter in TB and show how many you can catch in one hour......

Yea last fall and winter it was stupid how many fish were up there. You didn't even have to be on a "reef". All you had to do was stop somewhere that there wasn't a boat and put your line in the water. That's how it was today except on multiple ends of the lake...

Ask BR about that day I had a West wind..........I would start at the ship channel and drift all the way to DeVil just let the wind pushed me... Would catch at least 75 per drift...lol...it was stupid

I'm not going to lie, its the smart thing to do if my balls are on the line for a tournament and I ain't got anything. Other than that, I find my own fish, usually resulting in better quality.
