Traffic light ticets
Have you guys been paying these? I have gotten a couple before but they were in my wifes vehice, so I just paid them. Got one the other day on Camillia blvd here in Laffy. It was on $25 bucks so I just paid it, but man I didnt want to. I know lots of people just throw them in the trash. What are your views???

If you don't pay by the due date, the fine doubles. If you still don't pay it, they flag the registration on the vehicle and the next time your registration is due, you have to bring proof of payment of the fine to the state police and have them sign off before you can get your registration renewed. Big pain in the butt. It's not worth the trouble. I had the same thought but in the end, I was out more from the missed day of work to straighten it out than I would have been if I had just payed the fine up front.

What happened to them only being able to threaten your credit???
|
Here's a novel idea......................quit running red lights! Just sayin'!! lol!

There's no flag. I don't pay them. Not even on my credit
|
Got one a few years back and never paid it. Never had any trouble.

41 in a 35 blows!!!!!!!! can't believe they have them set to pop 6mph over!
I hate the cameras myself, because to me, they have the ability to cause more accidents then help, which is what they were sold to do to the government. Now, on the same topic but different course, Tony Trammel is an idiot and needs to be fired. At the very least, he needs to be drug by his feet down Johnston St. on a hot summer day. Dude is a duoche and has no idea what he is doing. The whole Lafayette driving thing is a mess and he is more worried about his cameras than fixing the problem. Don't get me going!!!! Dang, I already did!.....sorry guys, just had a flashback to the traffic nightmare of this city! |
Big brother!!!
They are unconstitutional in my opinion... |

We HAD those speed vans here in Sulphur. They didn't last long @ all....don't even think they made it past the testing phase. Thats what we pay our police for. Most were set in school zones. But I think if someone is speeding in a school zone it needs to be addressed immediately!!!

This red light camera is "our" government getting out of control. It's another chapter of taxation without any representation. This red light has absolutely nothing to do with public safety ( govt says it was for safety) but is just another tax if we should be unlucky to get a ticket. It's been taken down in some cities because more rear-end collisions were occurring near the lights from people slowing down suddenly. Anyway the wife got 2 tickets on Camelia and I paid them but a lot of my educated friends say not to pay them as them have no legal right to enforce this. Of course you would have to get an attorney, take a day two off from work, etc, etc.to fight this B.S.
|
Y'all need to petition your government to get rid of them like we did here with red-light cameras. They are now dark in the city of Houston and illegal by state law for jurisdictions to renew their contracts. Speed cameras have always been illegal in Texas, so we'll never have that issue. Even the jurisdictions who are still allowed to have red-light cameras until their contracts are up cannot (by law) report anything on your credit. Red-light camera tickets have absolutely ZERO teeth in Texas, and very few people pay them anymore.

I just got one in New Orleans.I heard they couldnt do this anymore b/c its unconstitutional!? Heard they were supposed to take them down and werent allowed to use them? Anybody?

Those things flash at me all the time ... I've never got one in the mail
