Trailer Inspection
Do any of you guys get your trailers inspected?
Heard there is going to be a crack down on trailer inspections. |
Didn't know u had to. Where do u even go for somethin like dat? I remember back in the 90s when u had to
|
By law you are supposed to get any trailer you use on the road inspected yearly and the sticker should be carried somewhere so that no matter what vehicle you are towing trailer w/ you have it . Same place as you get your motor vehicle inspection
|
never had mine inspected
|
They usually staple the inspection sticker to the registration. I don't get mine inspected thats just a money racket.

http://www.katc.com/news/operation-t...s-439-tickets/ What some ****** heads!!! I pay the 70whatever dollars to get a lifetime plate now they figure out how to get 10 more bucks a trailer. I got 5 trailers they ain't gettn my 50, just take my chances. Fawk em.
|
Yep, I was one of the ones getting a ticket 2 weeks ago. Trooper didnt say nothing about having my trailer inspected. In fact, didnt even ask for the trailer registration. Just ticketed me for not having my plate on my trailer(it was in my truck) and a light was out. I buy permanant plates too. I got 6 trailers. Dont wanna hafta pay for more inspections. I think we are just about the only state that even has registration on trailers. Just one big scham.

When I bought my Xpress boat 2 or 3 months ago the dealer didnt say anything about inspecting my trailer nor did the DMV, you would think they would tell you something like that, or when you buy a new boat and trailer they would have it inspected and ready for the road for ya!!
|
checking for plates, lights I guess...state don't give a crap if your trailer is street legal...if it touches the road they want their money.
|
Look at it like this, all that money being paid for inspections and what not is what keeps our South Louisiana roads nice and smooth. Who wants to guess where all this money goes? Greasing some pockets no doubt, not being put to good use.
|
Your trailer should come inspected when you buy it new. My inspection sticker was with my paperwork.

Trailer Fee
Yeah - you see what they (Tex state gov) did to us on the new trailer registration fee.
Starting Sept 1, every trailer, no matter how small, will be charged the same fee as if you were pullin 6000 pounds !!! :pissed: My new annual trailer fee for my little Pathfinder now costs me $55 !!! State gov is getting as bad as federal - they wouldn't dare CUT SPENDING - just raise FEES ! Geez - I think I will start fishing out of a darn KAYAK ! Ken K Beaumont |
Periodically they have been enforcing this since 1990's
I bought my 1st boat in 1990 and they first trip I got a warning from a game warden about getting my boat trailer inspected. I got it inspected for a few years in the 1990's and only recently started getting my boat trailer inspected again due to they are starting to enforce it.
Really a joke all they do is check your lights and make sure your trailer is not falling apart. Guess they are starting to enforce it due to complaints from people driving around trailers that really should not be on the road or state needs more money. If I would see improvements for this money I wouldn't have a problem with it. Such as them fixing roads in areas going to boat landings or giving the money to DWLF to improve fishing or hunting programs. Money will probably just go into the general fund. |
