I use liquid glass, not a wax but a polish. Worked pretty good for several scuff marks on boat etc
|
ok thanks jus wanted to make sure i wouldn't mess it up trying to put some type of wax on it......i'd be sick if i messed something up cause its not bad at all just me being paranoid bout ma new motor!

Try woody wax.
|
I just started using rejex lasts longer than woody wax and makes everything super easy to clean nothing sticks once u apply the rejex

3M Compound is good to get scratches out and I use Meguiars NXT wax to do a good cleaning and then when I just wash my motor I use the NXT quick wax in the pump bottle, these are good on boat too
|
I use the same fiberglass wax that I wax the boat with.
Makes it easier to wash the salt off. |
alright thanks guys

Doesn't some women use some kind of wax? Ask around, it does a pretty good job on it.

compound will leave swirls if you don't do it right but if you have oxidation its about the only thing that will get that out, Just use a polish first after washing it and polish out the scratches if all you have is scratches, then If you want to wax for a shine you can. but a lot of waxes don't really get deep in to the scratches to make them disappear.

just did mine a lil while back..you can see it on my "picked up a new kenner thread". I used 3m compound, just start with the least aggressive compound, fine or polishing. Depending on how bad your scratches are, then finish up with a good wax like meguires..Academy also has a marine grade 3m line of compounds and waxes that work real well.

yea its not bad at all....only visible when u go real close to motor and look when sun is hitting it...it those lil scratches u get from like dirt after you been washing it for a while...have them on my truck to...so ill try some polish...i like to use that turtle wax as you dry stuff...works pretty good to give u a good shine |
3M cleaner wax or 3M restorer wax will clean oxidation and small scratches pretty easy.
|
Meguiars 105 then 205 then nxt. Will look brand new. Use a da polisher if u have one for the first 2 with a cutting pad.

thanks guys...i like the looks of the meguiars 205....should be perfect for what i need...then ill finish off with the nxt

Be careful with the rubbung compound. Get the fine. If you get a heavy grit it may scratch the black on the merc. Use a polish after compounding. The wax will leave swirl marks. Good luck !!!
|
If you use a shammie to dry it with that will help not to scratch it as well.
