Big Lake Guides Running Folks off of Reefs

Friend said he heard on Hal's show that WLF was telling people to not allow Big Lake Guides to run you off of your fishing hole. They don't own the lake nor the reef. And if this problem occurs feel free to call WLF and they will write a ticket..

Sooo WHO is the guide service I wonder!?

"W" 07-23-2011 06:04 PM

This is the easiest fix..... If A guide boat runs over your spot intentional..... Just pick up and follow him all day and make sure he does not catch on signal fish.... Or just give him an old fashion azz whippe....

PUREBAY2200 07-23-2011 06:07 PM

What's a "signal fish"???

"W" 07-23-2011 06:13 PM

That is one with a stop sign....

thought maybe it was the one that told the rest of the fish to clear out

"W" 07-23-2011 06:17 PM

Now that might be what it is....

"W" 07-23-2011 06:20 PM

But I can never say..I have had a guide run over a reef intentionally while I was fishing.... That would be a stupid thing to do.....they would be the only ones who have something to lose...... Now Pilgrims will mess u up everyday...and don't know they don't know

BayBolt23 07-23-2011 06:21 PM

Heard WLF were running people off of reefs yesterday not guides. The jackarse WLF rolled up on Calcutta37 and 5 other boats sittin on a reef to check them. Young and dumb WLF that has no idea how to even operate a boat

"W" 07-23-2011 06:26 PM

Yep.... WL&F will kill ur bite....if you see them...its better to troll out to them.... They will run big motor all over u...... I have only been checked one time in my life while fishing...every time I was running or about 2 stop

weedeater 07-23-2011 06:30 PM

Had them roll up on us fishin beds at Toledo Bend with big motor and they never missed a beat and left the motor runnin the whole time

Shaw and I were fishing south end today. We were taloned up and a tan haynie came rolling up within casting distance, uses his trolling motor to scoot all around. I believe it was a guide. He saw us picking some up and trolled right in the middle of the hole I was casting into....bastid.

Tit for tat works well . Screw me and i will waste a day and follow you around and run doughnuts everytime you stop and fish.
come in quietly and know *** you are doing and i don't care if you tie up to the back of my boat.

Ray 07-23-2011 07:06 PM

I don't mind anyone fishing same reef as me as long as they do it right. Screw up my fishing I will pay u back.

SaltyShaw 07-23-2011 09:20 PM

Well the bite ended as soon as that boat got close........coincidence? I don't know they were being courteous just a little to close blowin the trolling motor IMO

No, the tan Haynie is not a guide. There are two of them exactly alike. Both are members of this site. One is very respectful and courteous. Fished near him today. We both caught fish and never got within 2 casts of each other. The other..... well, if he's not careful, will get a super spook tossed his way or spoken to by several guides. He has no clue on what an anchor is, or distance from another boat. Oh, and sometimes, a powerpole will not reach some reefs, so use your anchor! This is that guy. Remove the post if you'd like, but this had to be said.

BayBolt23 07-24-2011 08:19 PM

Not sure. If it was our boat it wasnt me fishing in it. I dont think Calcutta would ever get that close to other people fishing.

BayBolt23 07-24-2011 08:22 PM

Plus BD said they are 2 tan Haynies that are exactly alike but ours has the lowered console and race seats so I dont think hes talking about our boat

You never hear about this kinda stuff on Lake Pontchartrain. Guess it's because it's big enough to handle the boats.

I just wanted to keep casting where I was hooking up. I casted to the other side as to try and be polite but got casted over, realized it and reeled up so there would be no problems. Probably just hatin on my texas hat ;)

boatdriver 07-24-2011 08:57 PM

Look, I'm not trying to be mean here. I'm actually trying to help this guy learn what we, as guides, and fisherman, do as a courteous gesture. I promise y'all, if everyone would be respectful, there would be no "whining" on the lake. But, some people just never seem to get it. Saltyshaw, I know that you might think that you are "courteously" trolling in, but if someone is on fish near your "mark," would you still troll up to the spot? I know a lot of people, including ones on this site, think that we, as guides are a-holes, but I promise you, y'all could learn a lot from a guide.

huntin fool 07-24-2011 09:00 PM

Wait, so a tan haynie with 4 people rolled up on boatdriver and shaw was also fishing by boat driver? Dang playa, yall shoulda just had a meet and greet

Salty 07-24-2011 09:43 PM

I think it'd be a good idea for everyone that's fishing big Lake to meet at one launch pre-daylight and give everyone a hug. That way there won't be any hard feelings as the day progresses.
