PUREBAY2200 07-22-2011 01:36 PM

Irp is sweet!!!!
Whats a price on that??

I still love my yeti.... Even thought it wasn't a top performer.

The igloo works well.... But tears up & breaks to fast.

mikedatiger 07-22-2011 01:38 PM

No way - I grew up with Tony. Small world.

Sorry, no comment on coolers...

I woulde have liked a little more info . Like ambiant air temps when they were running the test. Could be a real big difference in performance between an air conditioned warehouse and out in the Louisiana summer sun???

I put my cooler in the house night before with lid open to cool it down.
Put all stuff in fridge night before too.
Morning time, put stuff in cooler and ice down along with them blue plastic thingys you freeze.
Makes ice last 5 times longer than if you put hot food/drinks in a cooler you got out of a hot shed.
A hot ice chest will make the ice melt faster.

I have Igloo, Colemen 5 day and Yeti coolers.
I'd rank them in order:

1 Yeti
2 Coleman 5 day
3 Igloo

I use the two 5 day coolers a lot on my big boat.
I am too scared someone will steal the Yeti. Cost so much.

I was surprised how well the Coleman did. May pick one up now.

I agree. Eight days and they still got ice? You can best it ain't out in the summer in the south.

Very cool video but I'm still a Yeti man

weedeater 07-23-2011 05:11 AM

last yr on a TX deer trip one of my uncle's took the silver a/c tape and taped around the lid of his ice chest and it made a big difference compared to another of his chest that was sitting next to it and both started off packed with ice.

booyagasha 07-23-2011 06:16 AM

nonetheless, great comparison between the different brands..

Coleman looks good!! I just hate having to unlatch those latches on that fancy one every time I throw a fish in the chest.

I have a bunch of igloo's but after seeing this test I'm gonna try one of those Coleman Extreme's. I think the Yeti and IRP are too much $!

not too mention the coleman is almost twice as lighter as the yeti, and has more square inches

speck-chaser 07-23-2011 08:20 PM

I like the coleman too. The one I need is about 1/2 too big to fit under my leaning post.

that's why i havent gotten rid of this one, even with the make shift handle..it fits perfectly snug under the leaning post..on my 18.5 footer, there's just not enough real estate...especially for a yeti

speck-chaser 07-23-2011 09:08 PM

saw walmarts online store has the extreme colemans for great prices. Had a 120 qt. for around 50 bucks. I need something around 90-100 qt. less than 36" wide

Tightline11 07-23-2011 09:17 PM

I have always bought coleman and didn't know they were through of that way. I have always put the name with camping gear and figured it was a good buy.
