Bimini for BlackJack

The wife wants a bimini top for the BlackJack for when she is in it. I want one that lays flat when not using and can be removed with just pulling two pins. Anyone seen one on a BlackJack that fits this MO?

No, but go to Sterling in New Iberia I am sure he can make you a custom one. He is expensive but great quality. A buddy of mine that has a 24' sea pro got a custom one from him.

I can't tell you where to get one but I love my bimini top. Sure is nice to get in some shade and mine lays back around the back/transom of the boat so you never have to step over it to fish and never even know it's there.

I would never get another boat without one.;)

lavocat 07-20-2011 07:02 AM

W, I ain't gonna have it on the boat unless wife is in the boat and that is only 2 or 3 times a yr. You ain't putting me in the T-top group.

I found some pretty good deals online. How wide is your boat?? That's the deciding factor on price. You can order it with any dimension you want. Ill try to dig up my reciept for the website. It was much cheaper than getting it made locallly

wtretrievers 07-20-2011 08:09 AM

X 2 on Sterlings in New Iberia

Top Dawg 07-20-2011 09:01 AM

What size does the boat have to be before it's ok to have a t-top??

cmdrost 07-20-2011 09:10 AM

google bimini top and there are several websites you can choose from to custom order. Just need to know your boat specs.

Raymond 07-20-2011 09:41 AM

Lavo, get you one of these and stick it in one of the rod holders. Not perm and can be removed for running. It also does not qualify as a T-TOP.:*****:http://www.outdoorpatioumbrellas.com...FQpU7AodBUvtyQ

like them 2 boys that won the shoot out a couple years ago. 2 office style chairs under 2 of them there umbrellas in their aluminum boat! They looked mighty cozy!

lavocat 07-20-2011 11:14 AM

Hell I think I'd rather have a T-top than a patio umbrella and if you knew my wife you would know she ain't going for that. Besides I do need something I can run with. Thanks for the advice. I need to measure my width and how tall I want it. Boat is at Bowtie but might be fishing in the morning so I will measure it then.

:rotfl: I gotta laugh at this one, because when My GF comes with me my 50,000 cadillac get's degraded to a 10,000 Bateau I sport a blue one that matches the boat for her when shes tired of tanning, and keeps her from saying "r u ready yet?",
In all honesty though if your on the water in the hotter parts of the day the thing comes in handy, folds up, breaks down in seconds, fits it the rod locker, and cost 19.99 at academy, and realy dont mater if it breaks or u lose it. Just dont try getting on step with it:shaking:

Bimini on a Blackjack is like a basket on a Harley:shaking:
Lavo, just rent ya a guide that has a bimini the day she wants to head out on the water or barrow someone's boat.:p

Lake Chuck Duck 07-21-2011 08:06 AM

"Bimini on a Blackjack is like a basket on a Harley:shaking:"

That is exactly what I said when I saw the start of the thread. I would never "disrespect" my Blackjack with a Bimini :D; however, I should have a black Power Pole on it by next weekend. Can't wait.

lavocat 07-23-2011 08:54 AM

Damn you guys are hard on an old married fart like myself. She has been getting her way for 31 yrs and it ain't stoppiong now. However to put it in perspective, when I was wrestling with whether to pull the trigger on a BlackJack due to the cost, my wife's comment was as follows, "You work for your money and you love to fish, ordere the damn boat that you want". So if she wants a Bimini she gets a Bimini. Now it is only going to be on the boat when she is in it! I ordered a Carver Bimini. I had one of those on my Kenner 21V for 14 yrs and it held up great and it stayed on the boat so I know they last.

BayBolt23 07-24-2011 05:34 AM

I have learned that over the few years of being married ( if she's happy everyones happy ) so Mr Lavocat get that bimini and everything will be alright

weedeater 07-24-2011 05:50 AM

Just wish I had a big enuff boat to put a top on:cry:, wife says mine floats and motor runs so deal with it

Lavocat,
I can relate. I got my BlackJack for 30th Anniversary last Augst. If my wife wanted a Bimini, there would be one on it. Enjoy it and let us know how it looks...Cheers:cheers:

very nice colors, and the bimini looks hawt!!!:smokin:

lavocat 08-16-2011 08:26 AM

The Bimini is a Carver. www.carvercovers.com You can't order from them though but they will give you a list of online vendors if you call them. It is a 6 ft cover and the width is whatever my wisth on the boat was, I don't remember off hand. It is a 3 bow model.

Tomball Tiger 08-18-2011 12:39 PM

Ohhhh, You are The Sea Foam BJ........I teared up when I saw it for the 1st time last year. Top looks great.

FiberglassMan21 08-23-2011 07:59 PM

come by olmsted shipyard we can get ya a good one at a reasonable price

BaseballFisherman 08-28-2011 09:37 PM

That's a fine boat. I'm also interested in your numbers with the SHO.

bjhooper82 08-28-2011 09:49 PM

that sure is one fine boat!!!!

lavocat 08-29-2011 02:41 PM

Thanks I like the boat, not true, I love my boat. As for numbers on the SHO, I have been very pleased. It will run 58mph with 3 people and all our gear.

cmdrost 08-29-2011 04:12 PM

not to hijack, but I still don't understand why Bill Kenner only rates the Frontiers for a 200. I know it would get those kind of numbers with a 225.

Beautiful blackjack though!! Thats the color I would want. Saw another one like that with all the stainless powder coated white. Really good look in that color combo!!

Thats a sweet BlackJack, Its in my top 3 when I decide to purchase. I agree about the frontier, I think it would do better wit a 225. I bass fish now, so speed is a major factor.

Check out fishmaster.com, $995 plus any accessories you may want, easy to install in a day.

Mine was way cheaper than that.
