Bacteria

Guys. Saw a sign when we were leaving Prien Lake Landing at the beach area. I could not read the whole thing but did read about high levels of bacteria and a warning. Anyone know what this is about and is it affecting the consumption of the fish caught in that area? Thanks for info.

Not 100% sure but I believe they put that up for the swimmers.

for swimmers. not a biologist but bacteria thrives in the hot waters this time of year.

Vibro is a real concern this time of year, cast netters, crabbers, ect., should be careful when handling their catch. It is a good idea to have a bottle of bleach in your boat just in case you get a cut.

haven't heard about that.
But i would imaging its some bad bacteria out there.

Saltwater fishing is much better than freshwater man, got poisonous catfish, flesh eating bacteria, shrimp with horns, stingrays, and did they mention sharks!

what you got a SHO my PRO XS will beat it, o sorry we was talkin about some bacteria

muttmechanic 07-18-2011 07:27 PM

yea they are talking about the vibrio that live in the water. Some people have lost appendages, limbs, and even lives from these bacteria. Be careful out there. If you get a cut clean it and treat it. Don't be tough, you may not be tough very long if you do

Moron.

kenmore_mo 07-18-2011 07:44 PM

Bacteria is in all warm water, and yes a fisherman should be careful at all times. I for one have never had a problem, but know people that have. If you cut yourself, make sure it gets clean quickly. clorox and water mixture 50% of each should do the trick or just the hand sanitizers, work also

Y'all should be fine. Just try to keep open wounds out of the water. And there are some bacteria / pollutants that they say to keep ur head out of the water cause it will cause chronic diarrhea and vomiting alot like food poisoning. Just tell the kids not to swallow to much water. I grew up on the lake here and have seen them signs before, maybe I'm lucky but I've never gotten sick or hurt. Go have fun just bring a first aid kit and clean em up if they get hurt.
