As in putting the leaf spring under (or over) the axle?
|
yes as in dropping my truck in the back
|
Got good fillings in your teeth? Not for long!!!!
|
Ya going up or down? Really, if ya got the kit, it isn't that bad. Going either way, you add a little strain to your u joints(pinion angle will change a little) but, it isn't anything substantial.
Get ready though, on most vehicles, you have to undo e-brake cables and such which is kinda a pain in the arse if it isn't a brand new vehicle. |
Since you're going down with it, I would recommend changing shocks while you're in there. If ya don't, the ride quality will suffer and you'll be changing them out soon enough anyway due to failure. Also, you may need to get after your bumpstops with a saws-all. You won't have to cut them completely off but, likely will have to cut them down some.
If ya get in a bind, you got my number. |

Yessir didn't even think about shocks...what so you recommend for those?? Also would you use springs or go with drop spindles in the front? |
Spindles in the front for sure. Your tires will wear at a faster rate using springs. Spindles cost a little more but, tires cost a LOT more! Belltech makes a good lowered shock. There are a million manufacturers out there. Just make sure you get a shock that is tuned to the amount you are lowering the vehicle.
I can get that type of stuff for you but, I doubt I could save ya enough money to justify the trip up here to get it. |

Spindles for sure dude, dont want to go the spring route! Get online and get McGaughys spindles and what not.
What kind of vehicle are you working with? here is my GMC McGaughys Spindles, and strut relocaters up front. Flip Kit and shackles out back with helper bags. BE PREPARED FOR IT TO RIDE LIKE A TANK!! http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...m/IMG_0025.jpg |

It's already dropped 3 inches in the back and I was gonna go with a 3,5 or 5,7 drop kit but flippin and spindles is much more affordable and doable by my own hands..what you got on yours?

Do your self a favor and go 3/5 especially running 24s on that body style! |
Stainless lines and compressed gas fixes all that.
|
Put compressors in the cab were it pulls dry air or engine driven compressor, no need for stainless, i ran 1/4 polyflow stainless is better but you gonna pay. slower fill and dump is always better shat on all that hopping shat thats how you tear stuff up!
|
I had all 3/8 stainless on mine. Always had slow leaks but I liked k owing I wouldn't bust an air line.
|
Man y'all are bad influences on the pocket book....my friends don't have any major issues and it was done well he just is always replacing stuff on it...I love it though....
|
I'll do it for cost! That means 50% labor rate and whatever the parts cost! Shaw, that is one sweet lookin truck! I always loved em low!
