what is the perfect boat?
i have a 21 foot robalo with 200 honda
i really like the boat but it has about 21" off draft so i have to be very carefull in shallow water which i fish inshore about 45% the rest of the time i fish off shore but ride is a little rough some times i feel safe in 3 foot seas but its just not worth the beating i take and im not getting any younger so im thinking about a new boat what are yout opinions what would be the perfect boat if money wasnt an option but only can have one boat to fish inshore and offshore and maybe even spend a whole weekend on the boat offshore (cabin) :work: ps what about a cat vs mono |
oh no!!!!!!!
|
This should be good !
|
Triton like Pox just got. Like the look and the ride.
|

I guess this would be better titled as dream boat thread....but either way I'd have to got with the 36' or bigger yellowfin. hopefully one day when I'm finished with school, I can actually go buy one.

Man, I was just about to go to bed. Hopefully my mods are still awake.....

|
25' sea champ champion...bad *** boat with a 300 yammy or 350
|
I just bought a 24 triton ltspro love, been fishing offshore it was slick though but I ran in some nasty stuff Friday morning n it was great, only thing I change on it is put a 300 instead of the 250

i have been looking and i am very interested in something like a 26' cat walk around but i have never ridden in one does any one have any experience in something like this
|
My boat mechanic has a 26' prokat ... Pretty cool handles the water good. 99% of the guides in Venice run 26' glacier bays
|
There's a used 28 walkaroind for sale on the 4 lane north of golden meadow.........its a real beauty!! If you already have your inshore boat, I'd definitely go and give it a look

My best friends dad has a 32 foot world kat at the camp in Venice....it's enormous and can't beat the ride in legit 6 footers....I feel 100% comfortable on it 100 miles offshore on overnighters

Look at the 26 foot Calcutta cats. Think Ray on this site has been in one and might be able to throw a few pics up

But my choice for an inshore/offshore boat would be the old 24 ft Kenner hull repowered with a new motor. |
Hiney with an OBAMA MAX.......just checked their 10q statement and both are in the BLACK$$$ in regards to their P/L statement!

The perfect boat is the one that runs and is paid off!!! If there was one perfect boat we'd all have the same one...

What about the old style Wellcraft V20 that would be all composite with walk through windshield and 8.5 foot beam with bow mounted TM?

gonna be to tough to get a cat through the weirs though...Haven't been around alot of cat style bay boats though.
|
I would look at cats.... Not very fast but they can get pretty skinny and handle some serious slop. I've even seen trolling motors mounted on the baycats
|
Cajun Hunter 03, I think that is his screen name, just got a Haynie 24' cat. PM him

They run twin vees too but most of the big names down there run Freeman cats yellowfins and a few run invincibles |
if money is really no option a good boat for inshore and a overnighter would be a gause built. do a lil research on them and you will find lots of info. drafts shallow and is offshore capable.

Maybe a Yellowfin 23 CC? 18 inch draft from of an "offshore" boat for your trips to the weirs....although if I had anything with the name "Yellowfin" on it, it wouldn't come within 100 yards of those rocks, and it looks like it has enough room in front of the console to pitch a tent for spending the night in the gulf!! LOL....but seriously though....

2 words............Cape Horn!!
