Catching crabs

Anyone been catching crabs around Hackberry or Cameron location? Have some chicks at work wanting to go after this rain.... I have no clue about how this weather will affect the crabs nor do I know any places to go. Not looking for places... just wanna know if any areas have been producing and whether or not they should even try after all of this rain. They will prolly be on foot not on boat. thanks

There was a lot of people crabbin at hog island Sunday. Don't know if the rain affects crabbin or not.

jpeff31787 06-23-2011 10:22 AM

don't know but we need some pics to see how it goes! lol

Cutty713 06-23-2011 10:26 AM

If you're going on land I am of no help, if you have a boat just go behind the weirs and you will catch plenty of big ones to eat. Don't have a boat, then post pics of said chicks and we can discuss options.

i will not be partaking in any of this... just wanted to help them out. those days are over for me. happy family man now.

SULPHITE 06-23-2011 10:42 AM

hog island or any place down 27 would not be affected to bad by fresh water

X2. Eddie, just tell them to go south of Hackberry to hog island or west cove canal.

SaltERedneck 06-23-2011 10:56 AM

thats what i told em but didnt know if it was producing and whether or not rain mattered.

Ive been in that area a lot lately and the crabbing has sucked at hog island.Which dont make much sense to me looks like a good area but even with huge drop nets thrown way out in the middle in the current i havnt caught more than a dozen in one trip.I'd say try price lake road in rockafeller with a good tide.

All depends. You want the TINY crabs? If so they got a treat for you..

Or you want normal size crabs? If so, they have some of that too!

No there was a sale going on today. Dr. Lee Feldstein, fully licensed, fully trained, and fully Jewish.

iron man 06-27-2011 02:35 PM

went this weekend out of roll over in pecan island, caught about 6 dozen, it was off and on but they all nice and very full. We only threw back about a half dozen. boiled em saturday night, very full and delicious. Big damn was too crowded, but talked to 2 different boats that caught their limit.
