I refuse to take one. I'll take the ticket. Been runnin a boat all my life inshore and off. Just cuz a bunch of punks started buying boats and some punk game wardens think they know what's goin on. I'll take the ticket.

Just let them take it. It won't hurt and maybe they will learn something extra.

Boating safety is 95% common sense. Some people don't have any and shouldn't be drivin a boat. From what I hear the stuff in that course deals with driving a ship rather an aluminum boat. Those wit no sense will take the course and still drive on the wrong side of the channel cut u off run in ur drift and get mud flatted. Common sense And the worst is game wardens. Most have none.

I was the same way when I had to take Hunters Safety course. I had already hunted my whole life and new what was right & wrong. HOWEVER, I don't consider myself above the law, and the law required I take the course. I suggest you do the same. Luckily for you I guess you don't need this course to get your fishing license, though I do think it should be a requirement, much like the hunters safety is to getting your hunting license.

your lucky enough to have been exposed at a young age to boating...some people were not, so this is one way they can gain knowledge on boating other than someone yelling at them on the water from a haynie...

Top Dawg 06-22-2011 09:33 AM

Yea. Let's put more laws restricting our rights. That's what we need. More government.

I agree some people need some direction. What what irks me is that it's the 35-40 year olds that all their friends have haynies so they think they need one and the go out and wreck it and they don't have to take a course. But it's because of them that I do have to take it.

booyagasha 06-22-2011 09:38 AM

its 3 hrs worth...but you can stop and start again if need be...print out your cert and it's free, if you want one mailed, its 15 bones

Hopedale Hustler 06-22-2011 09:43 AM

This test is literally for someone getting ready to pilot a aircraft carrier in a battle group up the Mississippi....not for everyday boaters....example question from test: what buoy has green and red vertical stripes, two solid horizontal white stripes, four triangles and 3 blinking red lights?? ***

i would challenge anyone to take the sample test and let me know who passes, this test is not set up for kids to pass

Ray 06-22-2011 11:15 AM

The Lake Charles Sail and Power Squadron gives this test.
They give all the info. before the test, kinda like a real time study course.
After that, if you don't pass, you ain't too bright.

there sure is a shortage on common sense these days

evidrine 06-22-2011 12:32 PM

I'm taking it now!

evidrine 06-23-2011 11:42 AM

I took the free course and have a certificate. Now, how do I get a permanent card. They didnt say anything about sending me one. Should I send this in to the LDWF office? Will they accept it???

pay the 15 dollard

im on my final test now

evidrine 06-23-2011 01:55 PM

Doest say anything about $15 either. Just that they can mail you a copy of your cert for $5. Called the LDWF and guy told me I should have one in the mail.

Which site are you taking it on?

longsidelandry 06-23-2011 02:13 PM

Wow, I've never seen people gripe and complain about something so much. Just take the test and be done with it, it's not like it's something that you gotta do every time you take the boat out, do it one time and you're finished with it. My brother and I both took ours in under an hour online.

jchief 06-23-2011 02:51 PM

But, but, but, I dont wanna do it.

booyagasha 06-23-2011 04:33 PM

just finished and printed mine

took mine at boatus...and it says 3 hours..but finished in less than 1....when you pull up a section, just click to before the quiz, or something like that..that skips the whole section and you quiz and test and have to pass with 80 or better on all 7 sections...good luck

Wag 06-23-2011 06:15 PM

After you get your card, make a copy of it and send it to your insurance agent, should save you some money on your boat insurance premium.

booyagasha 06-23-2011 06:16 PM

lol, insurance agent called me and got some info since im turning 25 soon. i'll be saving a whopping 17 bucks a month on full coverage..pah yow

booyagasha 06-23-2011 07:21 PM

heres what finish looks like...winging it mostly, common sense..i only had to retake like 1/2 of em...easy like piehttp://i880.photobucket.com/albums/a...fetyCourse.png

wtretrievers 06-23-2011 10:24 PM

My boys are taking this now.....this has got to be the most ignorant crap I've ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!

huntin fool 06-23-2011 10:27 PM

Its a hard test.. Its not common sense.. maybe 1/2 of it is... the rest is stupid stuff. Stuff you will never use unless in friggin navy or tanker business

I see that! If it was me I'd just take my chances on a ticket! Screw em!

wtretrievers 06-23-2011 10:39 PM

90% of this you'll never see or come across, I'm 42 years old & have never seen or heard of 1/2 of this! Most boils down to common courtesey or common sense

most of it is common sense, and certain things is mandatory to know like navigational rultes

@4o0 a pop whew...

booyagasha 06-24-2011 03:28 AM

many of this you will again come upon later in life, like types of extinguishers, type of pfd's, and certain procedures do come up if you plan on working offshore. Although i do admit, most is common sense(i finished all in less than an hour)i believe the program in general should be mandatory(many boats are bigger/have more power than people's car's...at least make it for those under 18...not 26......some of the navigational stuff like buoys and markings are imperative also.

take this oppurtunity now that it's free and do it. me and atleast one other member here has already completed.

another member noted that the fine for getting caught by LDWF is 400...the course is free..if you got bank like that send me your info and 400 and you got a printed copy in the mail.j/kholla

booyagasha 06-24-2011 03:28 AM

borkedd..

booyagasha 06-24-2011 03:28 AM
