New Boat

Well picked up my new boat on Friday evening, and wasn't real sure where we were headed on Saturday. Got a phone call and was told that the specks had moved into the Trash Pile in Verm. Bay since last weekend. Got the boat all loaded with gear and gas on Saturday morning and figured well at least we gonna give the new motor some break in time, didn't have much hope with the river being so high. Got there at 9:30 Saturday morning and what do you know the first fish was a trout......:p Well we picked away at them and would up with 35 beautiful trout....2-3# average, and a couple right at 4#. What a way to break in a new boat. Feeling really good after that we went back out bright and early this morning, well as per the Bay here today gone tomorrow...... 1 fish all morning:(. Tried to put some pictures, but my computer is not wanting to recognize my phone for some stupid reason, will download them tomorrow at work and post some pics of the boat and fish.

Nice way to break in a boat for sure. I heard the same thing about that area holding some trout. With the drought that is one of the few areas that will hold some salt in the water, even with the high river. How did the water look at the pile?

The water was beautiful, had a green tint very nice. Also all the trout were full of eggs. They made a big run through there last year, Memorial Day weekend and we burned them up. Looks like they a few weeks late this year.

If your talking about the pic with my youngest, the bite was really funny, they would not hit it, they were just picking it up and holding on to it and he was having a hard time catching them. He finally hooked the one is the pic about 45 mins before we left. He was pretty excited that he had finally got one to the boat. He had missed quite a few before and was getting really discouraged, but he kept at it. Was proud of him for not giving up.

YellowMouth7 06-13-2011 11:59 AM

With live bait....they will do that sometimes. Just let them swim off with the bait. When the fish stops.....count to 3....then slowly real up the slack and lift up the rod tip..... and you usually got them hooked.

Everything was caught with artifical....anything white. We caught on white w/red tail cocahoe. Had some buddies there they caught on Glow/Chart. Tail.

how you like that Mako? I was looking last night at their LTS18 and like it, plus the price is nice for my first bigger boat.

boggycreek 06-13-2011 01:34 PM

Man tell you what I really like it, great fishability, storage areas are fantastic, plenty of room for my stuff. Now with that being said I do have the 2110, not sure what LTS18 has, didn't look at those. Hope this helps.

I know they are smaller but they are compared to flats boats which it will go shallower then the boat you have. I have looked at them a few times and like the decks and price and they have some decent storage but not real sure about Mako, don't know much about them. I read some reports claiming 50ish mph with a 90 hp motor although I would like bigger that's what its rated for.

Dont you have the 2201?

jpeff31787 06-13-2011 05:00 PM

awesome boat man!! I've been keeping my eyes out a lot lately and that mako has an awesome layout, just wished they made them a full 22ft. i guess 6 inches doesn't really count for much but it feels like it. Hows fast does she run with the 150?

duckfreak 06-14-2011 03:05 PM

UMMMM

Made a phone call this morning and was told it has been too choppy to fish much this week, so my sources are saying they haven't been out due to wind. I might head east this weekend around Dularge, but not sure yet. If I hear something encouraging will you know.

YellowMouth7 06-16-2011 01:36 PM

Thanks Brother
