Grn. Can. 782 REPORT

HI Guys!!

A little morning Report for you all.

Wind- East 8 knots
Seas-1-2'
Current- 1 knot w to e.

Really blue out here. Nice patches of grass coming thru.

The wind makes it alot cooler on this steel deck.

Still seeing occassional nice YF Tuna busting, but I'm working, not looking over the side so much.

Thanks

Gunner :help:

cmdrost 06-08-2011 10:22 AM

Hopefully it holds. We are trying to go this weekend. Forecast was at 0-2's but then bumped to 2-4's. Looks like its trending back downward to 0-2's hopefully.

Both catching Tuna.

What kinda experience?

Top Dawg 06-09-2011 02:59 AM

Hit some hellacious seas and got sick on my own boat. But I went back and totally redeemed myself.

Ray 06-09-2011 03:00 AM

Ah, not an Ursa expierence, a seasick expierence.
I thought you had issues with the platform or workers.

Can't fix seasick for you.

Top Dawg 06-09-2011 03:03 AM

Haha yea. We trolled from mars to ursa. Nasty green water and rough seas. Somewhere between the two I lost my lunch. But then I ate some cold pickled okra and I was good

Ray 06-09-2011 03:18 AM

Your boats name is Top Dawg?

Top Dawg 06-09-2011 03:23 AM

No. Wankatank

Ray 06-09-2011 03:26 AM

Never seen that one around Lake Charles.

Top Dawg 06-09-2011 03:28 AM

I'm in westlake. 26' Grady. Prolly gonna end up sellin it.

Ray 06-09-2011 03:29 AM

If it is in good shape, I have a friend looking for a Grady White. Not sure if he bought one yet.
What year?

Top Dawg 06-09-2011 03:31 AM

It's old. The boat is a '85 model motors are 98s

Ray 06-09-2011 03:32 AM

He just sold a 21 ft. cudy cabin. It was only like 4 years old.

Top Dawg 06-09-2011 03:34 AM

Mine isn't a jewel but it gets the job done

Both charter boats with Mexican Gulf Fishing Co. I bet. Could you see a name on the Freeman?

Ray 06-09-2011 09:18 PM

Could not see the name.
There is also a blue wrapped Freeman out here now and then too. That dude catches a lot of Tuna.

Top Dawg 06-09-2011 10:09 PM

That blue wrapped Freeman if I'm not mistaken a capt named mike gray wit Cajun odysea runs that. I fished wit him a couple of years ago in his old glacier bay.

Ray 06-10-2011 03:50 AM

That dude earns his money in that blue boat. I see him catching more than most.

Something big is going on tonight. There are some nice sportfishers out tonight.
Everything from a 34 ft. Albermarle to a 60 something ft. Viking.
There was also a nice sized sportfisher with a big cockpit and an enclosed flybridge.
It looked custom built.
Must be a tournament. Water is nice, but a lil choppy.

Lots of boats out here.

Ray 06-10-2011 10:15 PM

Just called the Brutus TLP and they have had a bunch of boats around them for the past week too.

cmdrost 06-13-2011 01:09 PM

We were by you Sat afternoon Ray. Spent the night at Mars though. More life over there. Slow bite though!

Ray 06-13-2011 10:18 PM

I have been here working nights for the past week. One more week to go.
We saw one huge Marlin caught 2 evenings ago.
Just a few Tuna caught.
More caught drifting than trolling.

bjhooper82 06-14-2011 07:29 AM

thats the only thing i miss about working offshore, all the fishing we used to do. i worked on the discoverer spirit (huge drill ship) and we would slam the yellow fin pretty often.

yak'em-n-stack'em 06-14-2011 07:34 AM

Drill ships are some of the best yellowfin and wahoo fishing in the world for some reason

latravcha 06-14-2011 08:22 AM

Had to fly out to Auger last monday.
Dropped guys off at enchilada on the way out.
Huge grass mats every coupple miles from enchilada to auger.

cmdrost 06-14-2011 08:37 AM

2 local boats did well in that area this weekend. Bite was better outa here than it was in Venice.

Ray 06-14-2011 06:42 PM

We have some big grass mats around Ursa all day.
Slow currents, no winds and waves.
