flounder_smacker 06-05-2011 03:50 PM

what are you puting it on? the 25 is not considered a portable and dosent have the shallow water kick up like the old 25 two strokes.

Call Boats unlimited....ask for Rob, tell him Jeff Ramsay told you to call.....see what he can do for ya, he's a buddy I went to school with

We bought a 2 stroke 25 yamaha that had about 2" hairline crack in the cowling for $1000 cheaper! A lil touch up paint & you can't even see it!

I got a 1448 alumnacraft jon boat rated for a 25 has a jack plate and 15in transom. the motor on it now is a 20inch 35 johnson that is a 1986

LPfishnTIM 06-05-2011 07:05 PM

I kinda wanted a 4 stroke so I didn't have to worry as much about fuel issues.

It is till you put the boysen reeds on it, i noticed a fairly significant difference after changing it. Still not bad though and will get up and go quick.

Tohatsu only makes the TLDI two stroke from 40-115. The 25's are four stroke. The mercury 25's are also a tohatsu with mercury cowls. They are in bed with each other, and the mercury version is a better price. They are all good motors, just hard to beat the power of a two smoker.

Yeah the TLDI is only around 30 pounds heavier. Not a whole lot more expensive either. They also make it in a 15" shaft, great motor and alot of low end power.

weedeater 06-07-2011 01:52 PM

Phones where out at Lake Area Marine all day yesterday but I talked to someone today and the Tohatsu 40hp with power trim and electric start is $4700. I know the question was about a 25hp but this 40hp is only around 50lbs more and its a short shaft 2 stroke.
