Curado E?

Are these reels realy worth the money or should I say worth $140 or is there a better reel in the $125-$175 range, I see they are saltwater approved how do they hold up

Hopedale Hustler 05-29-2011 09:41 AM

most deff worth it...best all around reel out. IMO

LPfishnTIM 05-29-2011 09:43 AM

there isn't any other reel on the market that last as long, cast as far, you can find parts for for the price of the curado. my buddy has several and cleans them once a year and his are 15+ years old.

"W" 05-29-2011 09:44 AM

LPfishnTIM 05-29-2011 01:22 PM

140-180 depends which one you want, but with the warranty if it breaks your not paying anything for a new rod, other warranties your buying a rod twice when 1 breaks.

I saw today"s academy Sale paper in today's paper and laughed. Sorry to say but L.C. store need's not even be included in the store chain. I 'll be very surprise if they had5 curado's @ today's opening and believe me half of them were probably return's. Drive 95 to 150miles of L.C. and see what real Academy Stores have to offer.

Just saying....Ask any reel repair shop....about Revo vs Curado.... Proof is in the Repair bill....:D

LPfishnTIM 05-29-2011 10:31 PM

I wasn't comparing a reg revo v curado, I was comparing a revo premier to a core!

Compared to a Revo your right........Revo is not in the same league as Shimano over all and you can not compare a Revo to a Core....Sorry bro its not even a argument

Have you personally used a revo for a extended period of time? Don't get me wrong shimano is a great product. But,I have 2 revo's and they are smoother than a curado,no sw problems yet.

No I have never used one...but I know personally a guide service who fishes 3-5 boats daily who was given some Revos free to fish with... They sent the reels back with in one month...
#1 Not close to a Shimano
#2 out of 15 reels 7 needed cleaning after 2 weeks of use
#3 Bearing went bad in some of the reels
#4 sticking gearing

All I needed to know about Revo reels

LPfishnTIM 05-29-2011 10:46 PM

for the price W buys shimanos for I wouldn't bother buying anything else either, but I seriously doubt that he has ever used a revo premier!

I've had this crap happen to all my reels other than my 2 revos and my other ambassadeurs and the one curado that I had. and I've owned quantums, fluegers, daiwas, browning, Bass pro reels and about any other cheep reel out there. Bass Pro has taken plenty reels back after three weekends or less of hard fishing. I just always added more money and got something better.

Your right but why not spend the money once and get a good reel and save on the repairs and down time

I use 3 Core 50MG...............I have 6 Cores and 2 Curado but only use 3...I will say that the Core needs some care than the Curado which I used for 5 or 6 years before the Core...

I never had any problems with the Curado .......It is by far the leading inshore saltwater fishing reel hand down....and you dont have to take my word for it....Just ask any one who fishes over 100 days a year or any reel repair shop..

You can learn a lot by taking to guys who repair reels ...and out of the 4 I have used over the past 10 years...They will all tell you like me.....Shimano Curado is the Best inshore saltwater reel hands not nothing even close

I've got a coastal......I love It!! Want the zillion coastal next. Sealed bearings!!??? What???? Where's shimano on that??

flounder_smacker 05-30-2011 12:00 AM

Throw some orange seal ceramics in a curado and nothing else can touch it.

Salty 05-30-2011 12:03 AM

I got a "NIB" Chronarch in the speed shop right now. Can't wait to get it back.

I'm gonna give you a chance to win it....or buy it....we ain't decided yet.

wtretrievers 05-30-2011 03:15 AM

I've got over a dozen curados..... Have used everything under the sun....from Shimano to ambassadors revos....fresh to saltwater there's nothing better than the curados....period!

evis102 05-30-2011 05:50 AM

Curado best all around reel

bjhooper82 05-30-2011 09:55 AM

I have 3 Calcutta 200gtb's and love them. I find they are a great speck and redfish combo. But that new daiwa zillion coastal I bought is way smoother and my bro-in-law has a few curado's and in my opinion the daiwa is better but if your trying to save yourself some pennies the curado is the way to go.

Academy may have a good price, but watch out. I went yesterday, noticed a couple of their h20 express rods had some quality issues. 1 of their 7ft rods curved noticably to the right on the last two eyelets. Brought it to the attention of a couple store workers, and they agreed with me. Talked with the manager behind the counter, told him I'd give him fifteen for the rod. He said "No, we're just gonna wait for someone to buy it." I said "You are going to knowingly sell a product that is damaged?" And he said "Yep." I had a few choice words with him.

As experienced fisherman, we know to double/triple check our equipment before purchase. Makes me feel bad for the pilgrim who has a couple bucks and wants to learn to fish, but they don't know to check their gear. Don't buy rods there even if its a good deal. They don't care about the customer. Go to The Tackle box in sulphur or LCT. OB is good people at the tackle box.
