Who did your work and how expensive was it?

I am interested in the work you had done. I am buying a 25 3cyl yammi tomorrow and am thinking about doing some hop ups to it. Are you going to re pitch your prop or get a new one? How has the motor performed before the changes?

Powertech sra 12 pitch. Google Dan's discount props online. I think it's $200 to your door. Nobody is going to beat that price.

There's a guy in Moss Bluff that modifies the reed plate on those motors. It will get it close to one with the 40 tohatsu carbs with a lot less money. I can give you his name and number if you want.

PT SRA is a great prop....hard to say what pitch you will need. The only way to get it right on the money is to run it with a tach and see how many rpm's you turn at WOT. The man that does the hop ups on the smaller motors name is Richard Foreman. He does good work, someone I know recently had him do some mods to a 40 merc. He is turning a 15 pitch 4 blade 6,000 rpms right at 50mph. I can get his contact number tomorrow if anyone is interested.

Larry is a great guy,I know him personally. If you need any prop work give us a call at the prop shop in lafayette 337-235-5761. Larry does alot of business with us so im sure he could bring the prop for you,or you could ship it. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Got any pictures? I would say anywhere between 4-6k. I have seen just that motor sell for up to 3k used. Should not have a problem selling it. I know someone that may be interested.

scott craft 03-20-2011 02:25 PM

If I was going to put 40 carbs on a yamaha, I would look for the carbs myself. It's not hard to swap the linkage over, so all you would have to pay for is swapping carbs and whatever else you wanted done.

i have pics now to fig out how to post them

weedeater 03-20-2011 02:28 PM

from what i was shown there is alittle work envolved, you have to know the order to install them and the linkage has to be rebuild, it aint just bolt on and run and you will need tohatsu carbs

Yes, you have to swap the yamaha linkage to the tohatsu carbs. The bottom tohatsu carb goes on the middle cylinder on the yamaha. Swapping the linkage takes longer than actually putting the carbs on.

No problem bro, that is a nice rig. If I had the extra money I would jump on that, perfect marsh or basin boat.

weedeater 03-20-2011 03:25 PM

i love it and realy dont care to sell but i am always lookin, it runs 35mph but like i say the prop needs alittle work and it will do better

Montauk17 03-20-2011 03:26 PM

Do you have a tach? How is the holeshot?

weedeater 03-20-2011 03:30 PM

i bout a tach and it was bad and the last one so now i am waitin on a new one, hole shot aint to bad i me at 210lb a bud thats a bit bigger and all our gear in lacassine the other day and never once had a prob gettin up or runnin and hittin mud

Montauk17 03-20-2011 03:32 PM

Does it have what we call trailer ball cup on it? Haha that will kill speed and rpm's

weedeater 03-20-2011 03:35 PM

yea i had a guy cup it here in lc and it aint never run quite rite. i think i can run this 13p easy and it will run quik and get up good but it needs to have the cup redone.

Montauk17 03-20-2011 03:38 PM

If I were you I would run it with a tach to check the rpm's. Then get the prop to us and let our prop guy work his magic.

scott craft 03-20-2011 03:48 PM

Those three-cylinder's are awesome motors. The 30 yamaha I had with the modified reed plate had an unbelievable hole shot.

weedeater 03-20-2011 03:58 PM

yea i am gonna go this week and get another tach if i can stay out the marsh to go get one, its real tempting now that 40hp is allowed in the pool to get one and sell this but i have had it since new and the motor is great mr. larry went through it and said he hadnt seen one that clean in along time especially for the age

1fastmerc 03-20-2011 05:25 PM

Go buy a real motor. Lol

1fastmerc 03-20-2011 05:31 PM

Just kidding. He has a very clean boat and very clean running and looking motor. If he ever would sell it somebody would get a nice setup.

weedeater 03-20-2011 06:32 PM

a man with a pink boat andd blown motor says to get a real motor, you dont have no prob fishin out of mine

one of my favorite motors from the past was (40 yamaha) built by richard, but i think the guy i sold it to liked his 3 cyl 25 better

1fastmerc 03-24-2011 09:11 PM

Your boat does run better, when it has gas. Lol. I was VERY impressed on how it ran in the shallow water of Lacafish. I don't think many motors could've handled what yours did. Too bad they don't make the three cylinder Yamaha 25 anymore.

I make oil 03-25-2011 06:53 AM

I bought a 3cyl 25 on Monday. Runs very well I am running it on my Go Devil boat and it moves on out considering how heavy it is.
