cute pup

Big Kahunaz 12-26-2010 10:13 PM

What age is recommended to have her trained? she's a little over 8 weeks

Finfeatherfur 12-26-2010 10:30 PM

Hopefully Ducktrickster will chime in on this question, but here is my 2 pennies. The real answer would be right now, since everything you do with her now, helps in her more formal training in the future. Basically, it comes down building blocks. Starting w/ crate training, and simple commands that she will need - sit, stay, playing fetch, etc.

Personally, I would not spend money on a trainer until at least 6mos of age, then I would know that the dog will need more advanced training later.

Thanks man! Same to yours as well!! Pups are great.

The Wachtelhunds are "German Spaniels" Bred for retrieving and tracking.

They bark like beagles when hunting a rabbit.

They are considered a Versatile breed

like FFF said start now with your obedience but just simple stuff and make it into games, most trainers don't want to start anything with a dog until 7 months, some offer training from puppy age untill finished but you better rob a bank if your going that route. Now to 7 months(if you plan on sending it to a trainer), just play with it and spend time with it. Get that bond and trust built, and get the sit, here and heel done along the way, just keep all retrieving fun otherwise it can hurt you in the long run.

Oh it picks up some stuff! just wish it would clean only the hard wood floor instead of trying to clean under every couch and getting stuck
