don't think you can return ammo so they better be good enough :D
I dont like em... cut one of the shells open the BB's are not all round
Are those the shells in the chrome boxes? I saw some in Wal-Mart the other day, thought it was some special edition ***** shells or something...

I did the same thing a few years back, got the same result ,hardly any of em round. wasnt a pretty pattern. Think I might try some kents this year. |

Jordan, they will be fine. That's all I shoot, you still have to hit them if the BB's are round or not. ;)
They are 2 3/4", the FPS on them is 1450 for 1 1/8 oz and 1550 for 1 1/16 oz, that is hauling ***, never saw steel hit a duck so hard until I shot these. I used to shoot all the big shells, now all I shoot are these in my Beretta, and life is good, best shooting I have ever done, don't have to lead much with these, just point and shoot. :) |
I use them too. But I use 7 1/2s. I get better penetration. With that than a 4
20 gauge #2 (7/8oz shot) are 1500fps
12 gauge #4 (1-1/16oz shot) are 1550 fps 12 gauge #6 (1oz shot) are 1325 fps |
I shoot Kent sometimes as well. I dont see any difference b/w them and XPerts. AND only place that sells them conveniently enough for me to buy them is Billy's in Pecan Island. And they will run u close to $20/box for 3" over there. So I only buy them if I am out of Xperts. That place is rediculous but its about 500 yards from my camp. We always laugh, can of OFF=$9.50 at Billy's. They know u gotta have it I guess.

Haha tim. You made a funny
hahahahahahaha i see what you did there
bought two boxes of the #6 2 3/4" @ 1400fps. Not bad. Same price, only last year.
cut open one of the shells. no matter the shot size there will be #2, 3, 4, maybe even 6 shot inside. also the bb's are not even close to being perfectly round. past about 30 yards they do not perform well, but the price is hard to beat.
Shoot em all the time

oh boy time to pony up on some shells...
shot kent last year...ok shells i guess? |
I would think the more "out of round" the more damage when they hit the bird. Just gotta hit em'! With the right choke they should still perform well.

Was thinking they went down from $12 a box... F F'ity F F F! Shame on you Jordan. |
I was in Monroe the last several days for my sons Dixie Youth baseball tourney. I drove about 30 minutes North to Bastrop to Simmons Sporting goods. Man that place is nice. They had the Federal 3", 1-1/4oz steel for 99 bucks plus tax. Picked up a case of 3's and 4's.

My dad lives north of Bastrop La and if enough want shells from Simmons and will pay in advance, I can get him to pick them up or I will make a trip up and get them. Please understand, I do not want to get stuck with cases of shells that can't be returned.
Stopped at Simmon's a few times on my way to duck hunt in Arkansas. Cool place and they got some pretty good deals.
I always went to TP outdoors in West Monroe. They aren't really anymore expensive and it was 5 min from my house..
if you have the pocket book, the remington hd 2 3/4 #6 can not be beat. been guiding for 30 years and have not seen a better load. At the range you can kill them, you almost have to put salt in the load to keep the ducks from spoiling. Also kill specks out to 40 yds consistently. Almost like shooting the old 3" lead 4's

I've shot them really not a bad shell, and that's a great price
moving up and old thread. Have you guys ever shot PMC shells or Rio blue steel? I have been shooting Hevi-Shot and Blackcloud all year but man those shells are very expensive. Now that I have a few more hunts under my belt and never see any guides or everyday hunters using them I have to wonder if they are worth the extra $$$. I can get PMC and Rio for less than half of the expensive brands. I do like the Hevi-shot/steel, they are great.

I have been hearing really good things about the Rio's I'm gonna give em a shot
I've shot some PMC's and they sucked. Never shot rio's. I've been shooting fiocchi 3 1/2 #2 with 1 9/16 oz of shot at specks and they work great. Unless your getting a great deal on the rio shells, I would look into rogers sporting goods. You can get good deals on some federal duck loads for 99 bucks a case delivered to your door. Those federals are 2 3/4 with 1 1/4 oz of shot. I like a heavier shell than a super fast shell
I'm done with winchester.
I'll shoot Kent before I'll shoot winchester again. |
