I got some sample Evil Eels last week and tried them out a couple of days later.

Rating......Good to Very good.

I found a spot in Calcasieu Lake [Big Lake] where I caught several small Speckled Trout and Sand trout using an Ele type bait on a 1/4 oz jig head.

I then put on a 4" Pearl color [Glow with a little pink] Evil Eel with their 1/8 oz jig head. This jig head has Red eyes. The long slinder Eel body has good action in the water.

It only took a second cast [first cast with the lighter bait was fairly short] to catch another Sand Trout. After catching 4 or 5 more Trout I noticed a small tear in the soft plastic where the hook sticks out of the bait. [Note: This happens with most soft plastic baits]

This bait also catches the "Unwanted" Catfish.

After 30 minutes, I had caught 8 or 9 fish [mostly small fish this day] on this same bait. Might have caught more.....if not for the pic. taking. I switched back to see what I would catch with the other "Eel" type bait to make a compairson. I caught a few more fish.....all about the same size.

I did not try the other color bait that were sent to me. I will do that next trip.

Rating and Suggestion......

This bait caught fish. The plastic held up well.

This was a 1/8 oz with a 2/0 hook and 4" long which IMO is a little small. I like throwing 1/4 oz baits with 3/0 hook and maybe 6" long. I can't throw a 1/8 oz bait if the wind is blowing some. I don't see that a 1/4 oz jig is offered.

Thanks for the sample baits.....I will try the other 2 baits soon.

Bobby Buggs 10-06-2010 06:02 PM

Gerald, Thanks for taking the time to post. We will have the 1/4 oz head soon and do offer the 6, 8 and 10 inch versions of the Eel. I was surprised about the cat fish as well. It just goes to show how versatile this bait can be.

calcutta37 10-07-2010 12:38 PM

Bobby Buggs 10-08-2010 05:59 AM

You don't want your bait to be that versatile..:shaking::shaking::shaking::shaking: :rotfl:

Here you go Bobby, the bait caught us some decent trout and Reds, also caught a few sand trout on it.
All we used was the 4" pink evil eel on a 1/4 oz jighead.

Purple Back 10-11-2010 10:56 AM

BTW, that is not me in the pics.........I do not look that goofy.

Bobby Buggs 10-11-2010 06:12 PM

Nice Reds, I still dont get why no one is buying into the Evil Eel??

its not that we're not "buying into it" it's just that we can catch a sale at academy and get a pack of sand eels or whatever for pretty dang cheap and catch a mess of fish.

My thoughts exactly lol!

Bobby Buggs 10-13-2010 06:21 PM

Does Academy give out free samples to this board or pay to be a sponsor and support this site so you and your friends can come here for free??:shaking:

FF_T_Warren 10-13-2010 06:50 PM

Heres the thing. not knocking your bait at all, Im sure its a great bait, but eels are a dime a dozen and I dont order anything off the web that I cant put in my hand. just saying. your trying to market a bait that many people basically already use and are tried and true. so its hard to go order something off the web when you can buy it at the store and actually feel the quality or lack there of. And you know what you've been using works and with your new bait, no one really knows for certain so they just gonna stick with what they know. Its a hard market to break into especially since so many baits are so similar. Just gotta tough out the intro period and if they as good as you say they are, word will travel fast and people will start buying. Good luck, hope things start getting better

Almost a year into my own business as well. I KNOW we have a great product/service to offer!... Still people have what they know and are hard to change, as Warren said.

I've had people here, on SC, that I thought I had established a good rapport with that still took their cars elsewhere. Hell, one of my best mooch friends, not here, did it to me the other day!!...Needless to say, he made his last mooch! but, I'm learning, it's the way business is... Loyalty, so it seems, is a thing of the past!

i just checked out your evil snow board on your website...it almost looks like a slalom ski.. is that just how he has his bindings set up or is it supposed to be like that?
