suffix braid

Does anyone use suffix braid?Ive been a mono guy my whole life and decided to make the plunge to braid.Havent got a chance to hit the water with it yet but was wondering how do yall like it.

longsidelandry 09-12-2010 06:43 PM

Never used it, I think a few guys on here have said they use it though. I use Power Pro.

Hebert 09-12-2010 06:45 PM

sufix is great line..I have it on my ultra-lite spinners...I prefer power pro on my other rods though...

catch.and.fillet 09-12-2010 06:55 PM

Suffix on spinners....power pro on bait casters.

eman 09-12-2010 06:55 PM

Power Pro X3

gonzalesdave 09-12-2010 06:59 PM

50lb power pro on all my saltwater junk

southern151 09-12-2010 07:01 PM

Got suffix on my newest spinner and it has presented no problems at all. Very tough line and if you're like me...in the trees all the time...it proves how tough it really is! Lol

fishinpox 09-12-2010 07:03 PM

when i used to use mono i used suffix seige it was good but pricey. all i use now is 20# power pro i get 1500yrd spools on ebay for 90 bucks

Montauk17 09-12-2010 07:05 PM

I have power pro and suffix on my reels. Between the two I like the suffix better, alot smoother line...also more expensive. I prefer 30lb test..does not dig into the spool like the 20lb or smaller.

Montauk17 09-12-2010 07:07 PM

Sufix is about to release a new line of braid, sounds good. http://www.sufix.com/usa/fishing_line/832/ http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/icast...l?ccode=SUF832

I tryed that before, knot would get caught in the guides and lost alot of casting distance. Do you have the same problem?

Dink 09-12-2010 08:18 PM

I use 1ft of floro leader only on plugs, keeps line from getting in the split rings and hooks

southern151 09-12-2010 08:40 PM

I need someone to show me how to set that leader up! The braid does seem to hang up in hooks A LOT!

Bobby Buggs 09-12-2010 08:59 PM

Just use a swivel and 10-16 inches of Fluro, I have been running like that for the past 4 seasons. Your braid will last for ever and it really limits line twists too. I have 2 seasons on a spool of suffix, its lost a bit of color but never broke on a fish. And I only use 10lb braid

BayBolt23 09-12-2010 09:13 PM

20 lb power pro tied uni-uni knot 5 foot 20 lb floro leader. No swivel.

U should not use fluro on tw plugs . Fluro sinks causing your lure to dive n sink ....maybe that's why we never see any you post any topwater reports =D

Only have that problem when I use larger than 15 # leader on A rod that has micro guides. I'll show you how I do it sometime so the knot stays slim

Bobby Buggs 09-13-2010 05:48 PM

Why would you not want to use a swivel? at $15 bucks a spool I dont want line twists and knots I have to cut out.

cajunwader 09-13-2010 05:54 PM

I have used power pro and suffix. They are both great.I decided on suffix,20-6.I use a 12-18 inch floro leader behind a 20lb spro barrel swivel, with a rosco, size 52 stainless snap to change lures fast.I have never had this snap open on a trout. If you try to roll in a big red with a super tight drag they will straighten it out...

I have used a blood not and do not like the way it feels running thru the guides Good Fishin !!!

LOL 2 years? it sounds like u got your money's worth out of that spool :*****:
only way i can get line to last 2 years is to put it in the closet for 1 year and 9 months.

ME? I almost never use braid inshore saltwater. I just don't feel i need it.. MY DRAG WORKS CORRECTLY
the only time I use swivels is on a carolina rig and I personally dislike swivels because they create the need for an extra knot, which means another weak point in my line :shaking: ..
For braid to mono/fluoro i just use a uni-uni splice knot, it has yet to fail me.

Give me 50# power pro on my 7'11" heavy crucial in lacassine and it don't matter if it's 2lbs or 22lbs.... it's comin MY WAY! :smokin:
